This is a remaster of the original 2018 recording.
“The Fire Vampires” is a short story by American writer Donald Wandrei. It first appeared in Weird Tales in February 1933, and was described by the magazine: “Out of the sky struck a dread electric scourge that burned the life out of countless thousands and left charred skeletons to mark its passing.”

Thank you for listening to HB!
What happened to Warren? I MUST KNOW!
Most excellent! Thank you for this delightful remaster, I missed this story the First time around o:
Fantastic thank you Ian
Started this at work, turned it off because it grabbed my attention right away. Definitely a nighttime (nightmare) read.
Another great story, how they do it is preternatural but i’m not complaining
Excellent remaster of a great recording of a great story! Wandrei was a great author and wrote some very interesting stories.
Thanks!
@HorrorBabble is this available in any of his books? I’m looking online and not finding Fire Vampires. Many thanks.
Good story! Interesting how writers in 1933 predicted what the 24th century would be like.
Didn’t catch the 2018 version of this, so it’s new to me. Can’t wait to give it a listen.
Well, guys, I'm laid up in the hospital. Thank the Elder Gods for horrorbabble. PS Warren is here too… It doesn't look good.😮
You fool!
Warren took the day off.
Better than Television.
Agh… my first love, vampires.💔🧛🏻🥀
Out of all the horrorbabble vampire tales, my personal fav is "The Family of the Vourdalak" by Aleksey Konstantinovich Tolstoy bc it's a true lover boy masterpiece lol Plus who doesn't love family drama, wooden stakes, and a forbidden love story?!🧛🏻 🩷
Wow. Good story!
Damn! you did say you were going to be busy, thank you so much, really appreciated
Warren is not dead anymore?! Fantastic news! ❤🎉
It was a nice remaster. Obviously, your voice has and talent have been cultivated since the first recording. And the story is a good one. Thanks, Ian.
Popcorn time!
Listening to your stories is now part of my evening routine!
I appreciate all the work you do to get these to us!
The opening of this story reminds me of Colin Wilson's Space Vampires, later a movie called Lifeforce.
Absolutly wonderful!
Thank you for the wonderful narration! You are a gem!
•Like a head vampire.
°"Call me Legion; for we are many."
•All things are prone to decay. "Damn curtain…!"
•This story shows beautifully, the nature of human race. Especially masses.
•Yes… I remember I heard it before. I liked it. I like'em both, actually.
Warren is not so dead after all. His ghoul friend revived him so she could shake him down for some money he made while in London. She’s unprincipled but principles are for people who don’t need to eat people to live. Warren at least got away with his spleen. As a bonus she got him out of a nasty lawsuit thanks to her tombmates. Though they complained the legal team tasted both dry and sour. Warren’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Why don't you do more stories about cats?😾😾
Many thanks a great story and reading
Beginning with the beginning is usually a good place to begin.
What???😱 No mention of what became of Warren???🤔
Hi, could you tell some non-European horror stories? Thanks,
Evil rules the cosmos, because good is dumb.
Wow. That was dark and terrifying all right 😬
Thank you! That was magnificent!
