  1. Thanks for joining me with Dragon Age Origins!! I'll be taking a small break before moving onto checking out the other DAO stuff, tentatively in this order?

    1. other Landsmeet choices
    2. other Warden origins
    3. Leliana's Song
    4. Awakening
    5. Golems of Amgarrak
    6. Witch Hunt

Will be back likely sometime next week – I'll announce it a day or two on Twitter beforehand if you really want to know first: http://twitter.com/Materwelonz

  2. The Blights are random, they dont have a set schedule. 400 years ago just happened to be the last time one happened. Theoretically there could be two blights happening at the same time. Its honestly just a random catastrophe

  3. The reason people keep asking about Awakening, I assume, is because it is exactly what you asked for, here: it looks further into where the Blights come from and what to do about them, as well as continue the story of your Warden from Origins and introduce at least one character you'll spend more time with in DA2.

  4. I think it's been over a decade since I played that game. I will always fondly remember the main cast and the RARE diversity and autonomy in dialogue – and sometimes in actions – seen in more current role-playing games. The simple fact that you can create an evil character and it can be almost as "dangerous" as Blight is a milestone.

  6. Thank you for doing this. It was a long series but I loved it. I love this game and it was fun to relive it through you.

You payed so much more attention to lore and story and dialogue than anybody I've ever seen play this on a first run. I am so eager to see you continue the franchise.

I really liked seeing your reactions to the epilog slides, especially the dwarf ones.

And that final court room talk with all the Companions was a sweet ending. There is a popular fan theory that the dog behind Sten there was Morrigan shape-shifting. I like to imagine that's true and she's just saying her goodbyes in her own special lone wolf way.

One final correction. You have referred to this archdemon as the 4th dragon. It's actually the 5th one, a d 5th blight. There's 7 old gods, so the lore predicts 7 blights. The blights aren't exactly every 400 years. They just happen and last for specific amounts of time. Future installments will deal some more with blight and darkspawn stuff. So I don't want to spoil anything.

Anyways. I applaud you for undertaking this journey and sticking with it to the end. I am happy to see you get into the lore and wanting to see more. I am looking forward to your journey into the rest of this.

  7. Without going into detail about why people are probably more interested in Awakening – basing it off of another LPer who played through DA:O recently, the DLCs are…not all equal. In quantity or quality.

  8. One hell of a playthrough, huh? Great job, Welonz! I really enjoyed watching this and gosh, I can’t wait to see your reaction to the next games! I love everything about this let’s play, I found it very calm and comforting at times.

  9. And here you are finally! Congratulations on getting to the end of Origins, and thank you for playing in the first place. The DA franchise is one of my absolute favourite games and I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to be able to watch my favourite LPer play my favourite game. Looking forward to the rest of your Origins exploration, and then the rest of the franchise.

Btw, the archdemon fight is choke full of comedy gold and it is glorious. From Arl Eamon getting chomped on only to get a Cone of Cold to the face the moment he gets away, to Wellens firing a ballista while standing in front of it, to Wellons firing a ballista into Morrigan, to Wellons and co. hanging back leading to Arl Eamon and Kardol's (temporary) deaths, just so many good moments.

  10. Excellent series, love that you enjoyed your time with Origins. The recommended DLC order after finishing the main game is:

    1. Awakening
    2. Golems of Amgarak (optional if you dont enjoy DA:Os combat. Its a pure dungeon divey type of DLC with no "real" significant story)
    3. Witch Hunt

Leliana's Song & Darkspawn Chronicles can be completed whenever. They are spin-off self contained side tales that don't involve your Warden at all.

  11. zevran sounded like he was gonna hit up sten for a ride! never heard that dialogue before. i heard different/new dialogue more than once, so thanks for streaming this fun, intense playthrough! 🙂

golems of amgarrak is more about combat than story. many find it aggravating or just overly mystifying, for example: me, even though i love dao's combat

  12. Immense writing quality (thanks for reading all that): story and characters still sell the game.
Combat… it's obviously old, and maybe party management has never been my cup of tea.
As for inventory, I guess it was a conscious concession to make console controls easier (always avoid alliterations…), but I still believe any RPG with more than five types of loot needs cell-based inventory, or at least a table-based version like in TES IV Oblivion.
