Fun fact…the Eurasian beaver is actually a pretty big success story in animal conservation. The species was nearly hunted to extinction, with perhaps only 1200 remaining around the year 1900, but populations did survive and it has been reintroduced widely throughout much of its former range. The Eurasian beaver is now so widespread again that it is listed a species of "Least Concern" by the authorities of animal conservation.
