Ahh yes this will go down as one of The CO-OP campaigns of all time
Yea yea I remember this haha
iève never encountered your content before and half exhausted fully thought this was gonna be about a far cry game in Reykjavík. And god damn do i now want a far cry game in iceland
THATS SOME THEMATIC STORYTELLING
You're right, I played this, I completely forgot until I saw footage of it. Jesus.
you can still play it on console split screen
Thanks for reminding me I actually played this mode, loved the game at its launch
I actually played this more than a few times back when it came out on PS3.
I actually liked it because the opening cutscene of all the characters fighting their way off the ship and trying to escape all the pirates seemed interesting to me
You can still play the farcry 3 coop with the ps3 in split screen
and ubisoft hasnt changed a bit, and they still get tons of money. i hate the games industry
I played heaps of farcry 3, even years after it came out. It was the first triple A game i was able to convince my mum to buy. The coop and multiplayer game modes were pretty buggy in farcry 3.
I'm sad you can't play it anymore, I would love to play this. I love multi-player campaigns in games, especially first person shooters
When throwing everything you think you have at the wall has predictably hilarious results – thanks for enduring your 'friends' potentially unyielding condemnation for dragging them through this dross. How NOT to do Co-op laid out so expertly and surgically. 🙂
love the use of random snip its of 8-bit covers of muse songs
I vaguely remember fucking around with this on split screen. I remember fighting pirates on a cruise ship
I know this video is about far cry but that brief few seconds of halo reach got some nostalgia going.
I miss forge mode
Hey man could you do a short video on the intriquete lore and gameplay of hotwheels beat that! TM
I remember this being available with split screen
I like that you support Ross Scott’s position on games preservation
I REMEMBER PLAYING THIS
NOOOOOO, whyyy 😭 The Cyberpunk Edgerunners ost instantly brought back the FEELZ plus FC3 nostalgia.
Anyone ever tell you that you sound like Steve Blum and Josh Tomar had a baby?
so glad this content is being made and spreading this message!
Yes, please, Let's have more people talk about these stupid dependencies games have on 'online' servers. Accursed Farms is another Youtuber who's takes on this I appreciate. They should be made to plan for this and release the source-code for the online or something that will at least allow fans to run these games themselves.
To add more insult to your conclusion, you can actually still play Far Cry 2's online multiplayer and the OG Far Cry multiplayer through their respective community backends.
There's a steam guide for Far Cry 2's unofficial multiplayer if you want to try it (I can't put the url here because the comment gets deleted).
Far Cry's multiplayer is done through the last resistance addon. They have their own website and everything.
Maybe you could make videos on both of them? I'm sure you're a bit interested in why they are still played to this day.
I was fortunate enough to play the Co Op an the gun exps..
The map editor in this game was great tbh
I remember trying to play this years ago, but it was either extremely bugged and we couldn't make progress, or my team mates just stood still when it was time to make progress for some reason, or both
it was shit
Funny that you did this after the Total Overdose, because at that game developer camp in 2012 we had another guestspeaker, the main technical lead for the farcry CO-OP game. She was picked out to head the technical aspect because of her work with DICE on what I think was Bad Company 2. She talked alot about the problems she face when talking to the higher ups in ubisoft because of her gender. She even said her 2nd in command was more respected by the heads because he was a male.
But that aside, she requested that we not film her presentation because she simply could not promise herself that she not break any NDA she had signed. But she talked about the struggles with creating the coop mode with non existing netcode and that pressure of ubisoft promising a original campaign, when she had her hands full just getting the main build of Farcry 3 to run in coop.
So I think that Ubisoft thought that getting a coop system made and implanted into Dunia 2 was easier. Also that Dev team for the COOP campaign was located in sweden so their work and timeline had to follow Ubisoft Montreals, and getting updated builds was a bureaucratic nightmare.
Well I hope she went on to have a nice career.
PS. This was the last speaker you can make a video for me to tell about my game dev camp trip, because the 3rd and last speaker was the main dev for unity game engine
Time to binge your vids. Let's go!
Oh my god I forgot FC3 had co-op.
hahaha love the Ratchet & Clank song, most underrated soundtrack in the history of video games
oh yeah, thats just like no more room in hell exept you actual run normally not like a whale
You're absolutely, 100% correct. An artist should be able to look back on their work years, or decades after it's created. There is no reason for them not to be able to do so.
I only remember it because I played it with a workmate who had a 3D TV. We had to change the filters in the 3D glasses and then we could both look at the same TV but had our own picture.
12:53 DON'T REMIND ME OF DAVID YOU BASTARD
What sucks is the Campaigns story could have been cool if it had more ya know farcry even as a Linier somewhat open world sorta thing.
The only reason I knew this existed was from the achievement hunter playthrough years ago
Ubisoft was also the producer of Armored Core For Answer, a game i had to bust my ass to get a copy of for PS3. From Software is big enough now to bring that series back, but it's a major crime that ACFA can't be played on anything but a 360 or a PS3. A PC port could certainly clean up that janky framerate.
Far Cry 3 Co-Op was a good idea on paper, but the padded-out structure and tedious mission design make it not a heavy loss.
With that said, this is why I hate GaaS as a concept because it prevents these games from conceivably being preserved, and even when they are preserved by fans the lawyers working for these companies want to be dicks and shut them down just because they can!
On a side note, I'm pretty sure you can still play this on Xbox/ps3 in offline split screen mode.
The campaign was fun but it suffered from P2P and ubisoft infamously still terrible netcode. On PC you could have 4 players within the same general area and still have terrible lag, floating players and bad hitboxes. ITs a shame cuz the structure itself was actually pretty fun to run in a single session (ateast when uplays shit servers allowed for it). As for enemy spawns during events , good job you found out about ubisofts default style of spawning 1 enemy in the same spot during major events, great job it took you years to do so lmao
I played this COOP locally with my then 8 year old niece, we also played Borderlands. It was funny hearing her yell out "I need ammo" every now and then, and revive me.
Man, time flies.
