  1. I meant to comment on your last video after you got choked up watching Julie & Miller. Cause I got more choked up watching you that I did the first time I watched that episode😂. And yes you’re right, Ganymede is a satellite of Jupiter. As for Sam, I’m now reading Caliban’s War & while I’m enjoying that character, by the end of this series I think you’ll understand why Cara Gee’s performance of Drummer reportedly caused Naren Shankar, Dan Abraham & Ty Franck to make her more & more central to the show’s storyline. As always, thx for the video and insights!

  2. I believe that the back-story of the Epstein Drive is expanded on in one of the side novellas / short stories, called "Drive". Maybe after you've got all the way through the TV show and your main books re-read, you could go and read the compendium of short stories. Check the scene with Naomi and the sample missile again. Watch her screen just before Holden comes in.

  3. Cara Gee (Drummer)'s evolution on the show is interesting. Basically, they didn't have much of a plan for her, but they were so impressed with the actress that they kept giving her more to do.

  4. Awesome rant by Avasarala directed as much to Errinwright as to Mao. That's just one example of why she's referred to as "The Queen" by her fans.

I don't remember if Naomi's deception with the proto missile was in the book.

A lot of little details in the Ganymede incident that will not be forgotten.

  5. In tv ep 108 "Salvage", Sam Rosenberg (chief engineer of Tycho Station) is responsible for cracking MCRN encryption on the Donnager's battle report data cube which was recovered from the armor of Lt. K. Lopez by Fred Johnson.

  6. I call "foul" on Alex' idea that he sacrificed 25 people to save Amos. That's not how that happened. They had lost a thruster in combat, and at that point they could no longer hope to fight the stealth ship. If Amos had not repaired the thruster, both pods, the ship carrying Drummer and Johnson, and the Roci itself would have been destroyed. Alex did not delay for Amos…the moment Amos had the thruster fixed, Alex put the Roci back into action. Alex may regret that 25 people were lost, but that wasn't his fault and it definitely was not a sacrifice for Amos' sake.

  7. TWO THINGS:

It’s Camina, not Carmina, no r.
    But you were REALLY close!

Two: (deleted Thing 2 as it could POSSIBLY be considered a spoiler. But just don’t mourn for the exclusion of Sam just yet.)

  8. As I said earlier, Sam was there. At least in 1×8. She was with Fred when he broadcasted about UNN ship that was on the way to Tycho. But it simply didn't work. She was "kind of" there, but the scenes would work without her too. So they decided to cast somebody else for second in command as new character. That's where Drummer comes in. Later she takes role of more characters. At least two more. But I will not point it, because it would be spoiler.

The story about Solomon Epstein is adaptation of novella Drive, that's part of The book series. This is second one we got adapted, and some more are coming in. First was The Butcher Of Anderson Station. Besides the books there are 9 novellas. After book series finished, those were compiled into additional book Memory's Legion, where the last novel The Sins Of Our Fathers was first time published. Novellas take place during different time in the series. Some take place before the series, like those two plus Amos' origin story Churn, and the last one after.
I don't remember is it from book 2 or novella, but somebody said something like: "If you look into right direction, you can still see Epstein's ship. They call it longest funeral in the universe."

Story about sample is obviously different in some capacity and I think it's better here – but to tell more will bring up some spoilers.

  9. We have seen Sam. She was in episode 1×08 (and credited only for 1×07), but she has a very small role in the show. She is Tycho's chief engineer and was the woman analyzing the data from Lopez' memory chip for Fred.

  10. "Solomon Epstein had built his little modified fusion drive, popped it on the back of his three-man yacht, and turned it on. With a good scope, you could still see his ship going at a marginal percentage of the speed of light, heading out into the big empty. The best, longest funeral in the history of mankind."

The quote is from Leviathan Wakes, but his backstory seen in this episode is from the short story "Drive".
