Now knowing most of the important context, I still think that Nezzy Coffee to wake up Osiris is the most fucking random thing that ever happened in the entirety of Destiny's Timeline and that's saying something.

25:10 context: Clovis Bray jr. is not the giant exo head, that would be Clovis bray sr. Who is a tertiary antagonist, them having the same name is due to Clovis sr’s Hubris.

I thought the Golden age lasted 100's of years tho? Like our Guardian came alive in 2014, but the traveller had been there a while.
Is there any way that you can make the script available? I have a friend trying to get into Destiny, and she was saying she’d prefer reading something, as it’s easier for her to retain the info that way.
i like the part where they took a cool story and then scrapped it all to instead wing it and create a generic marvel movie plot

This feels like a stitched together bundle of words taken from in game cutscenes and descriptions. A lot of context is missing for things. Not even a sentence about what a Guardian is or what the Last City is before you talk about meeting the Vanguard in D1.
I guess I sort of understand if you’re sticking strict to gameplay events but this doesn’t actually help tell the story of Destiny very well if it’s just a synopsis of missions.

I first started playing D2 during Season of the Drifter. Now I get it. This story is incredibly deep and complex. My man just illuminated us all in under 45 mins where there are some videos that are 11hrs deep. Well done.

I started in Season of Plunder and I've just missed so much…really wish I could play all of this old content.
34:36 It's unclear if The Traveller moved away from the last city because of the threat to it or the threat to the city (and its people). The Traveller could have simply been running but it also could have been leaving the city so its people were not hurt in the conflict. Additionally the explanation that The Traveller has no where else to run may be correct but it could also be finally making its stand. Rasputin sacrificed himself to protect the traveller and it in turn may have stayed to protect the Sol system. "Devotion inspires bravery, bravery inspires sacrifice, sacrifice leads to death."

Small note, the traveler didn't become dormant over the last city, we built the last city under it after it became dormant.
This video is a great summary of the story. But man seeing the old D2 clips makes me realize how big of an improvement the lighting engine upgrade was. Yes the changes are subtle but when added together it looks like a much more beautiful game.
Thank you so much for this summary! I played D2 from the beginning, and then left after the Curse of Osiris due to burnout. I came back again in Beyond Light, and while I had played through Shadowkeep and everything else I could at the time, I was definitely lost story/lore-wise. This video helped me consolidate all the things I knew and didn't, and now I've got a better idea of what it is we'd been up to this whole time. I mean, I did lots and lots of pew pew and grinding, but things were disjointed. Kudos, job well done!
