The Disturbing FOOD INCIDENTS and SCANDALS Iceberg Explained

Hello Friends, Today we’re looking at the Disturbing Food Incidents and Scandals Iceberg. Please comment any entries you’d like to add and I’d love to do a larger version of this at some point in the future. There’s some gross stuff on this one including mice found in food, horse meat used at Burger King, and a finger in some Wendy’s chili.

  1. Personally, I thought the story I thought a condom found in clam chowder
A rat found in McDonald’s salad
A chicken head found in McDonald’s mighty wings
A tarantula found in a bag of grapes
Or weed found in a happy meal box was gonna appear

  2. People STILL think the McDonald's coffee lady was a scammer, but if you look into it, the coffee was being kept WAY hotter than standard requirements for food safety or company policy, and her burn were SEVERE. The pictures are horrific and I can't imagine the pain she was in. Then, she only asked McDonald's to cover the cost of her medical bills. They refused, so she sued them for millions and won. She did nothing wrong and was a victim of their negligence and anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant. I will die on this hill. Fight me. 😂

  3. Couple I can think of that weren't on the list… there was a hotel or restaurant that found feces in the ice cream after guests were sick. And then there was also a plane full of people who got sick from contaminated food. I beleive the channel Brew did a video on that.

  4. 6:05 Well, rodents can fit their heads in spaces smaller than it, so, who knows?
I'm more of a Panchero's girl myself, and from what I understand, their food is pretty much all frozen despite the small menu options, so something like an E.Coli outbreak can't possibly occur.
I'm also a big Nutella fan and love my Kinder Eggs.
9:02 Apparently, their 2.0 version is supposed to taste bland so people can flavor it how they want to. I gotta ask, though…WHY DOES EVERY SNACK FOOD MADE BY COMPANIES LIKE THIS TASTE LIKE SAWDUST?!

  5. I'm surprised we went a whole video about food scandals without a single mention of Burger King Foot Lettuce.
I had the horse meat scandal in my notes in case it wasn't brought up. It was a big deal in the UK but I didn't know it affected countries outside of Europe.

  6. I was waiting for that one guy who found a whole chicken brain in his drumstick – the picture attached was just straight-up gross. How a brain gets into a DRUMSTICK is beyond me. Oh, and for something more lighthearted, Haribo Sugar-Free Gummy Bears. Technically not as scandalous, but they gave people explosive diarrhea.

  7. The Tylenol murders reminded me about two cases of bottled drinks poisoning in Japan. The first in 1977, sometimes referred to as "Coca-Cola killer", was a case of Coca-Cola poisoning with cyanide, that claimed the lives of 3 people. The second case happened in 1985 and is known as "Paraquat murders" or "vending machine killer". A popular drink was poisoned with paraquat (a highly toxic herbicide), that lead to 12 deaths. In both cases, poisoned bottles were left in public places and people simply become victims of their own carelessness, consuming a "free" drink thinking that someone just forgot it after purchasing. The perpetrator wasn't caught in both cases.

  8. Honestly Grief, you'd be surprised at just how tiny of a space mice and rats can squeeze through. A full-grown mouse can fit through a hole the size of a dime. Shit's wild lol

  9. I was waiting for juice pouch worms. Like back in 2013 or something i remember watching a video where a lady cut open a caprisun and poured it out to show a worm (or some other long dark clump) and it scared me away from caprisun for a while. Never looked into if it was debunked or not but I figure someone else would find the idea of that nasty

  11. Ive got one to add. It's old but actually incredibly important to Scottish law.
In 1932 a woman found a decomposing snail in her ginger beer after she had already drank a significant part of it. Obviously she got sick and sued for damages.
The reason it became important was because, prior to this case, there was a strict liability model in tort law; you needed to show direct physical injury to the claiment. So since she wasn't directly injured by the manufacturer she couldn't sue under this rule.
After this case though it was ruled that the manufacturer had a duty of care to their customers and a new fault-based system was introduced.
If you want to look into it more the case is called Donoghue vs Stevenson. Might not be interesting to most but the general idea of finding a snail in your soda fits this list well, as well as the fact that this snail fundamentally changed common law in Scotland.
