H2O Wireless gave me a really good idea. Their database has no function to close accounts, so they tell their customers to cancel their credit cards to cancel the account. Now I have a couple extra cards that are specifically for that purpose. Simply call the number on the card and tell them it was stolen, and block the company email address. Account closed in like 10 seconds after you tell them, and new card in the mail for your next account.

I recently spent a year in Canada and got a canadian SIM. When I got back in Europe and wanted to cancel my subscription, I realized there was no way to do it online and I had to make an international (trans-atlantic!) phone call to end my subscription. Absolutely ridiculous.

The idea that rules/regulations hinder the market is completely wrong.
Rules are necessary for most markets to function at all and also for them to function well.
Of course it's possible to make rules that hinder the market, ironically they tend to be the ones pushed forward by big businesses not the consumer protection ones.
Companies don't have an interest in keeping a market functional, their goal is to extract as much money as possible from it and that requires exploitation of the market, like monopoly situations as an example.
