In the outcast dead you have a cool story of a friendship between a humble giant death guard and a flashy emperors children Astartes. You also have the death guard gene seed implantation of a thunder warrior. Arik the lighting bearer. I think he was the thunder warrior war master. My guess he was a proto primarch or true son of the emperor turned thunder warrior. He managed to reverse engineer the emperors Astartes project and thunder warrior creation in a crack house in a slum.
Mortarion shure was an odd guy!
