Why is it the main character of damn near every one of these stories has the last name, "Chen"??????
Are all these stories coming out of Asia??????
Are there no other names that can be used??????
It looks like lazy writing when every story has the same general plot and names of characters!
A little more variety in names, terms (tired of "Quantum" everything), and plots.
Ya don't need to mention coffee makers, interpretive dance, Rick Astley songs, or the mention of Earth being a "Deathworld"!

About safety, I'd say open weapons ports are pretty unsafe, those weapons might "accidentally" go off, so welding them shut is a safety enhancement.
