The Curious Case of the Missing President in The Walking Dead Universe Explored

Today I discuss where the president, and by extension the rest of the US Federal Government could have gone in The Walking Dead Universe after the outbreak, Why they haven’t been seen in the decades since, and what their possible return could mean for the future.

  1. I’m loving these government/military focused videos!

If I were to guess the president and his staff were or are living in Raven Rock or some other installation (maybe in Colorado or Hawaii?)

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they are in hiding, slowing rebuilding the US military, waiting For the Exact right time to take the US back.

Imagine we see a shot in some future show of the ocean with fog, it clears and we see a massive U.S. Fleet slowly sailing to the United States with aircraft Carriers, destroyers, Cruisers etc. it cuts to black and we hear someone say: “Mr President, we’re Home.”

And also I was also thinking Operation NOAH. What if the government is in Space and will come back from a space station.

One of those two I’d love to see the president and the US government again. I think it would be so awesome.

  2. Brilliant ideas, id probably guess they did like you said hid underground. But I'd bet after a year or two things would have probably broken down for them too. Having shelter underground is one thing but surviving is a totally different ball game. One food that would run out fasr depending how many are living under there. Water, power, power struggles living in thst sort of isolation would drve up tensions and metal health beyond bad. Great video.

  3. I'd genuinely watch a miniseries about the president surviving the outbreak and then having to deal with the people around him no longer giving a shit about his authority as over the course of weeks, months etc they start to recognise there is no government anymore therefore there is no president anymore and he is literally Just Some Guy

  4. A locked bunker and rogue military vs Secret Service and an early confusion on how the dead come back could easily lead to a a bunker full of undead heads of government and military is sort of how I imagined it. Lets say the President doesn't make it sort of like after RR was sh*t in the 80s his Secretary of State said he was in charge but it should be his VP and he was bucking for power. Something this petty under the stress of everything could lead to everyone getting killed or undead.

  5. If you want to see government and military portrayals and a zombie outbreak, go watch the Korean show”all of us are dead” really great portrayal of the military and government there they actually showed them. South Korea. 🇰🇷 has been reviving the zombie genre.

  6. This scenario reminds me of another post apocalyptic scenario, that being from the NBC show Revolution.
After nearly 20 years after electricity just stops working one day the US government just shows back up with wooden sailing ships. They escaped to Guantanamo Bay and were biding their time. In the meantime, several localized governments formed including the Monroe Republic in the NE and the Georgia Federation in the south. They end up going to war but one day the power comes back on for a few minutes then boom, Philly and Atlanta are nuked. Then magically the US government comes back to help.
Turns out the government shut the power off in the first place and then somehow turned it back on just to launch ICBMs to regain their territory. By the end of the show they try to do the same with the Republic of Texas but are foiled.

And then in the WWZ novel the US government relocates to Honolulu but that outbreak is muuuuuuuch easier to contain than Wildfire so

  7. I think they probably held out for a good while. But the Walking Dead universe was genuinly so brutalized by the outbreak that I dont think they could survive internal strife while isolated for so long.

The bunkers are probably still sealed, filled to the brim with walkers who havent seen the sun in 2 decades.

  8. Honestly? Would love a mini series of the president and other people getting to the bunker as an intro and the rest of it be of their life in the bunker or whenever they are watching the outside world and seeing the events and drama that take place in the bunker during said time. Would be a cool little mini series. I honestly think a cool scenario for the government coming out of the bunker would be similar to some vaults in fallout where either resources ran out, or rather in this case, in fighting. Some people wanted to leave but some wanted to stay which led to a fight. The people that wanted to leave not being given the choice to as to keep the people that would stay, secret. In turn the ones wanting to leave decide to sabotage the place so that everyone has no choice, a battle ensues, some people die. However, in the end a good portion make it out and venture into the real world. Sadly though, those many years (up to possibly 50 now) without leaving and no real world training and no real experience with the zombies (let alone the variants popping up, we even had one or two in America) would fall rather fast. It would be karma coming full circle and closing out one of the last vestiges of the old world that will only further usher in the new world.

  9. Honestly with how the Wildfire virus works I’ve always assumed the president and his cabinet are dead since anything goes wrong whether a staffer dies of sepsis, a secret service agent hides their pneumonia or a myriad of other possible things could go wrong resulting in an outbreak within the bunkers. The government could be scattered to the winds all over the country due to the evacuations and the plans to ensure a continuity of government would want members in different locations for that reason. Generally they could just lack the ability to retake control of the country since their power is predicated on the agreement of the people and the support of the military which no longer exists. Plus the lack of government controlled infrastructure makes it near impossible to hold a large amount of territory without the support of the local populous to bolster their numbers

  10. They would be underground they could keep Airforce 1 in Air Permanently using one of remote Airfields to keep kc 10s refueling and eventually probably Norad once intelligence and security were complete showed how zombies and closed the doors

  11. The federal government own so much land in New Mexico and there's so many underground military bases from Arizona to New Mexico to Colorado all up into the mountains… There is a story that has not been told yet

  12. occam's razor states that they closed themselves into a bunker somewhere, didn't know that everyone who dies comes back as a zombie… and are now slowly rotting in the darkness of their cave, as very hungry undead walkers.

  13. Probably hiding out of fear that survivors will want to kill them for both failing to prevent the collapse of America and for ordering the military to mass killing civilians during Operation Cobalt and Sunset Protocols.

  14. Tbh the whole thing just doesn't make sense. Why have the military return to their bases? Why not withdraw them to a more concentrated and defensable position? Most of the killing of the zombies shouldn't be done with infantry at that point, but with killdozers and napalm.

  15. A lot of the issue with showing how the government fell apart is that it requires unheard of levels of incompetence.
The military would have won but, it has to fail for the show to happen. So if they show someone fail to stop the walkers, how would that person be respected or capable enough to lead anything.
