Though I was awful at the games, Mega Man has always been one of the coolest gaming franchises to me. So today on Honest Gaming History, we are starting a series where I cover the story of every single generation of the blue bomber. In this video, we start with the complete story of classic Mega Man.
My apologies, I did not credit kensuyjin33 and marc_max along with kindlypatrick for their creation of the Rockman World 5 DX Hack

Thanks for watching fam. Don’t forget to like and let me know your favorite game from the classic Mega Man series below
35:36 – DAMMIT
It’s worth noting that Inafune also declared Super Adventure Rockman non-canon while he was still with Capcom, and the game’s own events support this.
Long story short, at the end of Disc 1 of 3, Mega Man got into a fight with Shadow Man. Who pissed Rock off so much that he was destroyed with no remains to speak of, which huge since Mega usually makes a point to leave remains behind to avoid destroying the IC Chip, which is basically a Robot Master’s brain and soul. It’s even a later plot point that that Mega Man rekt Shadow Man so bad that Ra Moon couldn’t make a new body for him.
This later contradicted by Mega Man: The Power Fighters arcade game where Shadow Man resurfaces not only alive and well but with his personality in tact. And since the alien supercomputer that can make tech from thin air couldn’t pull off this miracle, what chance does Wily?
50:56 – Fun fact: Mega Man 11 has a promotional manga that clarifies that Mega Man fought Fuse Man first and emphasizes that the Robot Masters and even the mini-boss Mechanoloids are among the fastest, strongest, and tankiest foes he’s ever had to fight period. Which, huge disrespect on Bass, King, and the Stardroids. Anyways, Rock won in the end with a Double Gear Charged Shot after spending most of the Fuse Man fight getting smoked.
Great video! I’ve been a Mega Man fan since I was a kid and have watched a ton of content about the franchise, and there was a TON of info in your vid that I hadn’t seen/heard before! Thank you for making my day a little better 😊
• Oilman & Timeman are DLN-00A & DLN-00B respectively, probably due to numbers 9 & 10 already being taken (despite the Robot Masters of Megaman 2 being DWN-009-16; even odder considering that if you know hexadecimal numbering, A & B are 11 & 12 respectively, NOT 9 & 10!! 😂😂🤣🤣)
• The fire type Robot Master is Fireman, not Flameman. (Flameman's the guy in Megaman 6 with the tourban head)
• Funny how the Robot Masters of Megaman 4 are all DWN instead of DCN, since they're supposed to be Cossack's peeps…😏🤔🤨🧐
• The Rockman World games taking place between the mainline games seems to make sense: RW1 between Rockman 2&3, RW2 between Rockman 3&4, RW3 between Rockman 4&5, and RW4 between Rockman 5&6. It makes sense because the two Rockman X GBC games – Rockman X: Cyber Mission and Rockman X2: Soul Eraser, aka Megaman Xtreme 1&2, which came out much later – literally do the exact same thing. Cyber Mission falls between X2 & X3, and Soul Eraser falls between X3 and X4.
• Classic Series Duo and Duo from EXE4/Battle Network 4 both lookin' like goofy Dollar and a Quarter Tree knockoffs of Transformers character Ultra Magnus (particularly the Car Robots Godmagnus/Robots in Disguise 2001 Ultra Magnus)…
• Roboenza definitely sounds like a precursor to the Irregular/Maverick virus of the X series. And Zero was literally the carrier/incubator…
Also, an interesting fact about the DWN's, a majority of them weren't even built by Wily, he actually stole a majority of them and reprogrammed them, in Mega Man 11 you can see who the original manufacturers are lol
Hey bro I really wanted to tell my friends the mage man lore and I ask you please do the rest of the mega man story
As an og Megaman player I can say that Megaman Zero is a tough game to start with. Awesome video and content 👊🏻
Sorry but I'm pretty sure you are incorrect, I am confident that Mega Man 4 was the first game that takes place in 20XX, and I'm mostly sure the intro just shows what happened before Mega Man 1.
37:43 is hilarious, I'm dead 💀
For what i know about Classic Timeline is
Mega Man 1 > 2 > World > 3 > Wily Wars aka Wily Tower (yes, it is canon) > World 2 > 4 > World 3 > 5 > World 4 > World 5 > 6 > 7 > 8 > MM&B > MM&B2? > 9 > 10 > 11……………….. > X Series
Are we not going to mention how Dr Light was originally Wright?
Why didn't you talk about X or megaman zero or any of that?????
How does Wiley keep getting these resources 😅🤣
I just recently tried out Zero… my god that sh!t is hard AF! But I'm used to games like Mega Man 2, so I know that, as you go, as you get better (which you always do) it gets way more rewarding.
17:25
Material and in-game evidence suggests they were built as DRWN (Right Wily) Numbers but were later switched to DWN when it is revealed Wily tampered with them (Wily tampering is the stamp that changes an existing Number to a Wily Number, as seen with the original six, or the rest later on, as noted by Right).
Rockman does not explicitly learn that Blues is exactly his brother in Japanese. They keep it more vague even later on.
20:03 The exact future date is only given in localization which might not be canonical.
21:26 Likely picking up from him not being found from the collapsed castle in Rockman 3, but I suppose World interferes.
25:50 That actually applies to all Numbers. Right notes he had not actually created free will until later with X.
I can't wait for you to cover Mega man X
Mega Man X's name is Mega Man X. His nickname is just X.
I'm waiting for the Megaman X video. I've never played it
As much as I think x might come from a different timeline all together zero is always been in the works because of the little fighting game they had with mega Man and the schematics and blueprints of zero or leaked at the end of it so definitely exists timeline we just don't know when that would happen.
Definitely the best MegaMan timeline video honestly
You should do mg and the mgs games 😅😅
Nice job on the video editing here. Grew up in classic Mega Man so I really enjoyed this.
Well, I'm damn happy I was suggested this video. It's nice to see another mega Mega Man fan out there!
36:58 Here a funny thing about Bass. Before the events of Megaman 7, probably during the events of Megaman 6, Wily was developing a new type of alloy in his next line of robot masters. Somewhere along the way, Wily accidentally creates Bassnium, the new element that he was looking for. So with this new material, he created Bass and Treble. Think of it as bringing a child into the world by accident.
41:08 Ah, there it is. Funny I keep forgetting that the Power Battles are more than an advert for the Megaman X games since Capcom started promoting the X series.
Pretty good details…a lot I never knew
Dude… your story so mimicks mine growin' up. I got MM2 when I did good in school, and for a bday/ christmas present. I ended up buying all the rest with my hard made money. Great video!!
Yo where's conscience? Haven't heard the guy in a while, great vid though
amazing video, loved the style and the speed, I tried watching other lore videos from other cc but this is truly exactly the one I had been looking for, super excited to see the rest of the series!
This video shows how Megaman's robot designs have always been unique
Please, please, please eventually get to megan legends. Its such an epic story and I think its that "new without copying old" youve been looking for. What they did to the 3rd in the legends series is a criminal act by capcom
Since you asked for it, here's a couple lore clarifications:
– Powered Up is canon. It's a retcon of Mega Man 1. Rock being called "Mega" is just some localizer screw-up.
– Super Adventure Rockman isn't canon. It was disowned by Inafune and de-canonized. He felt it was too dark to fit in with classic Mega Man.
– Mega Man DIDN'T win the Battle & Chase competition. Napalm Man did. His ending is referenced in the Robot Master field guide, and MM&B CDs as having canonically taken place.
I started listening in earnest once I saw the Transformers shirt! 💪
Bro it’s been like two years since I’ve been to your channel 🔥 great to see you’re still growing and dropping heat fam🙏🏾🔥❗️
I've loved the Mega Man games since day 1, but I've learned so much from your video.
Where's the Zach Snyder gritty, live action reboot when we need it?
My favorite classic MegaMan games are MegaMan 4 for the NES and MegaMan 4 for the GameBoy.
Subbed. Happy to meet another MegaMan fan
NoooOOooO why did this video end! Great work sir, loved it from start to finish. BTW, maybe Wily started counting his robots from 9 onwards because he was working with Dr. Light when the first robot masters were created? I'm not sure about that but at least in the comic you showed he was there when Protoman was created.
2:06 Is that a Dorkly Ghosts n' Goblins bit?
Yo, Mega Man is my jam growing up, & sufficed to say, this lore video was hella informative & pretty interesting. Although, if you were to ask me, I’d put some games in different spots. Like Wily Wars for me would take place after World 2, since Mega Man doesn’t charge his buster yet & it would make sense to continue the time travel gimmick. & I’d put Super Adventure Rockman after Megaman 5 & before World 4 & 5 to keep World 4 & 5 connected. Otherwise, the lore list tracks.
Super solid lore video & it’s a well informed video overall! The fact that it’s 50 or more minutes is pretty impressive. Looking forward to the Mega Man X lore videos. & I know that Zero & ZX lore videos are gonna be quite interesting. Take care Mastadonte, & good luck!
My first mega man game was mega man legends
200X = 2000-2009
20XX = 2000-2099
that isnt an error they just widened the gap
Zero 1 isnt the worst start point.
Mega man is that game that has lore but the story plays out like a satam show
