The Fallout franchise has a long and complex history and timeline that has been expanding its post-apocalyptic future ever since the original game’s release back in 1997. With 4 mainline games, a handful of spin-offs, and now a TV show that’s set within the same universe, the series has a big, meaty timeline to wrap your head around. And with the Amazon Prime TV show expanding on the franchise’s lore, and extending the timeline further into the future, there is no better time to dive back into the lore of Fallout than now.
This is the Fallout timeline fully explained.
From the Pre-War origins of RobCo. and Vault-Tec all the way through to Lucy MacLean’s journey to find her father via the stories set in the Capital Wasteland and the Commonwealth, this video breaks down the long and complex timeline of the Fallout franchise.

A Nuka Cola to anyone that gets the reference on my jumper (sweater to any Americans!)
Fallout 76 is such a good replica of WV. I enjoy nothing more in life than the 5 minute walk from the capitol of Charleston in Central WV to the beautiful cranberry glades in northeastern WV.
They kept themselves true to the soul of the series, its character and to the actual timeline/universe details as much as possible.. Usualy, when a game to movie/series adaptation fails is some of the previous 3 reasons..
Small detail, but ty so much for telling us to skip a minute to avoid spoilers <3
Thank heck someone made this because the timeline was good but really jumpy for me to figure out 😅
wow i never knew the original fallout game had the same vibe as Jagged Alliance
right off the bat, the Texas colony also including Arkansas is hilarious to me xD
has anyone checked on 4 y/o Robert House lately??
The TV show with the child hiding from a nuke inside a refrigerator has the same vibe as the one Indiana Jones movies. Good run down of the fallout lore though Shadycast YT vids are much more detailed. After watching the TV show version made me fire up FNV and wander the mohave wastelands again listening to Johnny Guitar, Aint that a kick to the head, and Big Iron. Can't wait to start Old World Blues again (favorite DLC of the series).
I don't think that it was very nice to compare the plight of inanimate objects with that of the good black people of America who had been forced into slavery. Toasters are not slaves.
imho minor divergences in the timeline occur prior th 40s/50s. mothership zeta keeps a samurai and a cowboy hostage who've been captured pre 20th century.
New vegas!
The best!
Fight me!😂
But what about the aliens? The TV show seemed to retcon their involvement. Or was that just a fan theory?
It was not no surprise that her father was not who he said he was considering playing majority of the fallout series. You would smell it a mile away on the start.
❤
Is it not a small plothole that Boston on 3 hours ahead of LA. The bombs fall in the morning meaning it should’ve been extremely early morning in LA when the bombs fell. Like at least 6:30 AM. Sun should’ve been rising and certainly nobody would be having a birthday party that early.
Correction 13:24 Shady Sands definitely looked bright
I love it. Instead of saying Caesar (see-zr) like Caesar Augustus (the founder of the Roman empire) he calls him Kysar lol. So much for modern education lol. The character in Fallout New Vegas names himself Caesar after the the Roman dictator of Rome.
One could argue shady sands future is actually very bright.
Who is Kaizar?
The show got me thinking 💭 of jumping into the game series again 😂 here I go exploring fallout wasteland’s Happy 4/20 💨🔥🌿
Ave, True to Caesar!
Please, please learn the proper pronunciation of Caeser and Ulysses. Otherwise, a very good overview, (minus the shady sands 2277 bomb date)
You did a great job man. 👌
Cool
why does the fallout mascot only has 4 fingers on each hand?
Fallout tactics was actually a decent game an it had a multiplayer.
i wanted an in depth explanation of war and politics and got a summary of each games plot
Great video. A must-watch for Fallout fans!
Why do you pronounce Caesar like that? Weird and wrong.
I've got to say Caesar being pronounced so incorrectly in this video gives me a headache
Good riddance to the NCR.
Lol this show… f'ing 36k people playing FO76 right now. . . BRUH. I was there week 1, that game was on life support until this show lol.
tv show is not canon as it contradicts fallout 1 and 2
It wasn't really radiation that created new species it was the FEV virus. Another experimental chemical that the government was developing to enhance evolution and create super soldiers (which resulted in the mutants, but the problem was they were sterile). Its been stated that all mutations were due to the FEV except for ghouls.
Also one of the writers came out to say that the vault tech bunkers and experiments were for its true goal. To test social scenarios for a generational space ship to another star system or galaxy, as they suspected earth didn't have much resources left and were planning on moving planets.
Just an update. The Battle of N3 continues to this day at the Hoover Dam!
thx
God Ella Purnell is so hot 🥵even when she’s all jacked up 😂
Mr house could be listening to skibidi toilet right now
New vegas has 6 endings bro. Can side with brotherhood, can make brotherhood and NCR allies(hardest end)
