The Cleveland Orchestra & New World Symphony: Deepening Our Partnership

The world-renowned Cleveland Orchestra returns to Miami, and the Adrienne ARSHT Center during the 2022-23 season for six performances featuring an exciting repertoire and internationally recognized soloists.

The New World Symphony is dedicated to the artistic, personal and professional development of outstanding instrumentalists. The NWS fellowship program provides top graduates of music programs the opportunity to enhance their musical education with the finest professional training. Under the direction of Artistic Director Laureate Michael Tilson Thomas, the program offers in-depth exposure to traditional and modern repertoire, with the active involvement of leading guest conductors, soloists and coaches.

Mahler wrote, “A symphony should be like the world, it should embrace everything,” and his first symphony is just that. From its opening whispers of dawn and birdsong to its grand and glorious finale, Mahler’s symphony is turbulent, passionate, triumphant … and simply exhilarating. New World Symphony and The Cleveland Orchestra unite for this monumental piece, as well as Berlioz’s Overture to Benvenuto Cellini. In between, rising pianist George Li joins Cleveland for Debussy’s intoxicating Fantaisie.
