Whoopi paved the way!
Whoopi paved the way. A beautiful story
I’m here for Fantasia NOT whoopi
I have my tickets for Christmas and hope this movie doesn't open wounds like the first one did when i saw it as a teen. I use to write notes to God too and go behind our family home and bury them in dirt. I went through so much as a young girl a lil girl isn't safe in a house full of men. I just pray that I let go of these demons and I can live free. I'm 49 and I still go through it so I just pray that some other little girl will see this and it give her the strength like it did myself when i first watched it on our dvd player. ❤❤❤
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yes whoopi you should definitely receive your flowers my love. I truly appreciate all that you did in the first movie ❤
Can’t wait to see the movie
Dang Fantasia & Taraji said no back then ? I love that they said yes now they are great, beautiful, strong women who deserve this time to shine ! They are winning
#loveit ‼️‼️ can’t wait to see it on Christmas day
I'm an almost 40yr old white woman, and I always remember, as a little girl-far too young (maybe 6/7) watching the Color Purple and it being one of my favourite films. I obviously didn't understand the material, but the imagery and music and the strength in this film- that I could feel as a little girl – kept me asking my mom to watch it again. I used to say 'the movie with the bloody hand print and Whoopie" (who is and was one the best actors ever in my opinion) (the imagery of that hand print stuck with me.) As a grown up- it remains of of my all time favourite films, and one of the best novels written. I usually hate when people do remakes- but I am so excited to see this new telling of it. I am sure it will do the source material justice. <3 Love from Australia! Can't wait to see it!
the tea is that Whoopi can't stand the color purple and regrets doing it.
Whoopi and Oprah should have won an Oscar
Whoppi is a spiritual being! PERIOD 😂😂
Cookie Lion should’ve had more singing bits
Having been in a stage production of this show I can 100% testify to how spiritual and sacred this text/show/art is. It is exacting of you. And it is so worth it. Kudos to the cast and crew!
THIS IS EVERYTHIIIIING AND I MEAN EVERYTHIIIIING!!!!!
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜😭😭😭😭
The original Color Purple to this day is among my top three movies ever! I can’t wait to see. The remake! I hope it does justice to the original! I adore the cast!
The standing ovation is much deserved, she did that part so much justice
❤
Whoopi 💯🔥
This movie musical was great! 👌🏿 I just watched the screening last Saturday. I'm going to watch it again when it comes out for more support
The original movie was incredible and the play was outstanding, plus a picture of Fantasha.I can't wait for this movie. It going to be fantastic. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Beat it.
Thank God for this movie
As a woman of colour, black women have gone through so much and continue to.
I Would Love To See Whoopi Goldberg Repeat Her Character Celie
I haven’t seen Fantasia’s version of Celie and I’m sure she did well, but I know that Whoopi played the mess out of that character in the movie. She moved me, she made me wanted to jump up and cheer when she stood up to Mister, and she made me laugh with tears of joy when she saw her sister again, and met her children. Whoopi’s definitely deserved an Oscar back then. That movie will always be a classic.
So many parts of this segment makes me so emotional 😢😢
Where's Halle?
Thanks Fantasia for giving Ceily her flowers because people always called me her in a negative way and I as a teenager found the beauty, strength and richness in her.
Whoopi I loved you in the original. I am looking forward to the remake but I know I'll be making comparison. I hope I enjoy it as much.
I can't imagine anyone else playing Celie than Whoopi. I had read "The Color Purple" before seeing the original movie, and was amazed at how perfectly Whoopi portrayed the character I had had in my mind while reading the book. Whoopi was Celie!
Whoopi has a glow about her I’ve never seen before.
I am not going to watch that movie whatsoever ,how in the world is it a remake and good movie, and turn it into a musical 😮😂😂it ain't the 60s, Oprah Winfrey if you was going to do that you should have just made it on Broadway made it a play instead of a movie, I don't even have to see the movie just the previews let me know I don't want to see that
It’s crazy because Fantasia already played one of the first celie’s on Broadway but now it’s for the big screen glow up so so much deserved!
Cannot stand Fantasia. Terrible singer. Could not even adequately portray herself in TV movie.
I'm crying. The book and original film mean so much to me, as well as these four ladies. I've been waiting on this Broadway rendition to come to film❤.
Yes not too late to give award to Whoopi…
Whoopi nice hair style
The original is still relatable and brilliant. I’ve watched it 4 times. I don’t see the need for a new version. Tne original was almost perfect.
Thank you 😢 Whoopi, your gift from GOD was and is amazing! Love ❤️ you…
I really wish Whoopi had a role in this movie in any capacity. I’m having a hard time wanting to see the movie but because she gave this interview, I may change my mind. This is my top #1 favorite movie ever!
So glad they gave Whoopie the recognition she deserves
In tears 😢 Ms Whoopi ❤
My all times favorite movie from Whoopi Goldberg that definately didn't need a retelling. When I heard they are remaking it I was "WHY????" and "STOP IT!".
Such a great classic and awesome movie doesn't need a reboot.
Yet they went and remade it because they have no new ideas anymore so they go and reboot all classics being live action movies, animated movies or cartoons from the past.
At least they found a lovely cast with amazing people so I might give it a try but for me the Classic with Whoopi was and still is unbeatable! ❤
I saw Fantasia on B’way in 2007. My first B’way show in NYC. She was absolutely fantastic!
omgeeee, even more exciting, this director Blitz is the same as blitztheambassador? oh WOWWWW. Nice. And the film unveils H.E.R. too? Awesome vibes.
Whoopie got this joke about a cat getting run over from the 80s I still tell to this day 😂 she is comic legend just a force of nature
I really hope this film is successful. 🙏🏾
Baaaaaby it's the *but look at Ceilie now!" For me!!!! Because look at both Celie's on top of their game together at "the table!" Yaaaaassss bih, "hater who!"
