  1. I'm sure the city of knoxville would welcome another huge race, they literally throw a parade, have teams working on cars downtown the morning of, and have tshirt trailers in the street the day of the 410 nats. They also have another big event the weekend before with the 360 nationals

  2. Bristol brought in that dirt and kept it on site to do it again, they had the whole month of dirt with the outlaws too right. Only problem i thought i heard was they had to pay out lot tonthe community for the dust ball it created.

  3. Eldora is the closest thing to a home track i have i live about an hour away and i gotta say, while there plenty of land around it, the track itself sit right next to a creek with a 30 ft cliff that runs parellel to the back stretch. Theres not much they can do to add seating i dont think

  4. I'm all for having a dirt race on the schedule every year, but you can't just dump a layer of dirt onto Bristol and call it a dirt track, dirt racing needs real dirt and that means any NASCAR dirt race should be hosted at a real dirt track like Eldora.

  5. I support running the dirt race on Easter. On Easter, TV eyes are more significant than butt's in seats, so you can get away with way less seats, or maybe even no seats at all. They could try it at the Dirt Track at Charlotte, since it's close to home for most teams and most of the infrastructure is in place for the other facilities.

  6. Nascar should run dirt races 100%… But not in the Nextgen or any other Nascar chassis. They should run 1 or 2 dirt races a year, one race for Super Late Models, and potentially one with a USMTS/USRA A-Mod. Pavement cars run on pavement, dirt cars run on dirt. Don't try to make them do both.

  7. I’m surprised that Knoxville Speedway is in Iowa. That makes it much closer to me than I originally thought. And also, yeah I agree that NASCAR should race on dirt consistently. Though I personally think that would be a problem due to how NASCAR and Eldora’s track owner Tony Stewart have had not so good relations in recent years.

  8. I dont mind nascar racing on dirt but they need to do it on an actual dirt track and use a car thats made for it, actual dirt late models and make more then just one to justify the expense, and or you have it on a huge fairground track like they do silvercrown or a horsetrack that has huge seating to let the cars wind up some speed with those huge weights we are talking a 3/4 mile to just over a mile like churchhill downs, or where they run the belmont stakes, or a place like duquine or springfield

  9. There is enough top level dirt racing in the US that I don't see a need for NASCAR to do it. The cars are not built for it's more of a gimmick than a real race. But then NASCAR has been based on gimmicks for years now. Go see a top level dirt show with cars meant for it on a real dirt track.

  11. I've been an avid race fan literally my entire life. I grew up going to a small dirt track an hour south of Kansas City. I live in Dallas. I used to LOVE to go to Texas Motor Speedway, up to 3 times a year (both Cup races and the June truck race) I would attend one dirt race a year from 2006-2015 (the Texas Motor Speedway dirt track) but since 2015 my love for dirt has increased 10 fold and I found that NASCAR had become a once-a-year novelty and (as a photographer who gets into my home track for free) I forgot how expensive NASCAR is. I've developed some pretty good friendships at the local dirt track, my home track even had NASCAR Truck series driver Kaden Honeycutt race his crate late model this summer. Dirt is closer, if you're a fan it's cheaper, and there are plenty of drivers to support. Shoot, because of what I do, I get all kinds of swag, I have upwards of 80 dirt racers tshirts and probably 2 dozen hats. I will only wear NASCAR Throwback gear now.

  12. It's like one race a year per series and people get all worked up about it. These are suppose to be the best drivers they should race on all forms including dirt. Steve Phelps is a joke and does nothing to listen to the drives or the fans about what they want and the ratings and attendance continue to show it. As long as he's in charge nothing will change and they will continue to do what they want and not what their drivers and fans are asking for. I attend weekly dirt races at Williams Grove my local track and it's the best racing out there. I'd rather watch that than what I['m seeing on my TV these days. Keep up the great work.

  13. NASCAR needs to yank the windows out if they run on dirt again!!! What dirt cars run windows?!?! Dumbest thing I’ve seen in racing so far! Can’t water the track because the windows get muddy🤣🏁

  14. I was a big supporter of getting NASCAR on dirt, for me you can't call yourself one of the best unless you can win on dirt. Though the Trucks put on decent shows, the Cup series was a failure. The whole Bristol dirt thing was just bad bad bad. I still adhear to that to be one of the greats you have to be able to show it on dirt. But NASCAR wasn't opening the rules to make the racing better. Not to mention wanting to run it at a makeshift track just made it worse. Eldora or some where would of been the smart thing to do. I'll give NASCAR props for trying but they were their own worst enemies. Maybe they wanted it to fail, I don't know. But they should just stick to the horrible racing on asphalt. I'll stick with real race cars made for dirt racing where the real drivers live.

  15. i’m all for a dirt race on an actual dirt track that is properly watered (no windshields) not running it on one of the few remaining short track on the schedule and on dust because you can’t water the track with windshields

  16. I'm a confirmed nascar hater but if they held a race at eldora and did it right (no windshields, maybe take some weight out too) i would go and they would win back some sprint car/late model fans in that part of the country.

  17. I think a Big Money exhibition race at the Dirt Track at Charlotte or Talladega Short Track would draw a crowd. Let's do a Wednesday show with Late Model Stocks, similar to the cars used in the CARS tour, and give $1 Million to the charity of the winning driver and $1 Million to the winning driver. It can be a continuation of the Prelude to the Dream from several years back and incorporate several racing series drivers (NASCAR, Dirt Late Models, Sprint Cars, IndyCar, Ect.)

For the race program, 2 Lap qualifying followed by heat racing, B Mains, LCQ, and the A Main. No Points, No guaranteed starts, Just race cars, Drivers, and 1 Million on the line.

  18. I went to both Bristol races this year, and the dirt show was the best of the two. I don’t think Eldora is a solution because it’s a one lane sprint car track. Attendance with spring Bristol has been a problem for the past 15 years, and having it on Easter isn’t helping. Idk what the solution is, but spring Bristol on concrete isn’t moving the needle for anyone.

  19. First of all love this video S1ap, and am looking forward to both more deep dives on things, and short track tour content. Second off, I don't see the Next Gens ever going back on dirt. Those cars were clearly not designed for dirt. They did not look right out there, the chassis were likely torn all up, among other things. Add the lack of horsepower and yeah Next Gen Cup cars on dirt aren't going anywhere. Third, I could see bringing back Gen six cars if HMS (who btw still make them for track day use) agree to supply the whole field or at least part of the field. (ARCA teams selling or renting their cars back to Cup teams?) Since that will likely never happen; this brings me to the last point which is, maybe just keep dirt for the Xfinity and truck series. Both are more closely aligned to dirt oval cars (even if Xfinity get IRS one day it would bring them more in line with FIA Rallycross cars) and can be modified for permanent dirt duty. Xfinity & Truck standalone event at Eldora would be cool and an easy sell to The CW as a special event.

  20. Would the Texas motor speedway dirt track not have the facilities to support a cup series event? Granted you may not be able to fit a full field on track it would definitely have enough space for fans and logistics

  21. Two things I disagree with:
    1) the inability to put the Cup series at Eldora is a bit over exaggerated, as NASCAR could simply work with the track to make the venue bigger. Plus, non competitive pit stops would cover most pit road issues, and the field size wouldn't be much of an issue for the racing (would probably make it a little extra chaotic but in a good way).
    2) having a dirt car on hand for 1 race a year wouldn't be a bad thing considering how little they use their Superspeedway cars, and the chassis problem could easily be solved by NASCAR handing them another (which I'd imagine they would if they wanted this to work).

Everything else is spot on as usual; wish the video hadn't been on the shorter end but it was great while it lasted 😎

  22. It's absolutely baffling to me that NASCAR doesn't go with a dedicated dirt track instead of forcing a paved track to morph into a dirt track for one night a year. There are at least three I know of with the facilities to handle a full cup race, and another that could easily have a hauler parking lot and quick cement brick garage area added. I thought it was stupid when I first heard they would be terraforming the tracks, and years later I think it's even more stupid because they've had time to prep some place like Hilltop Speedway or KC Speedway.

  23. 4:53 How about The Dirt Track at Charlotte?

6:43 I'd say 1-2 races max, as a dirt racer. BUT… take off the windshields, bring on the tear offs and find a way like all the rest of us to not overheat with a 3200lbs race car. Highlight some of the differences on tv with grinding, grooving, siping, tear offs, mud plugs, beadlocks, no radios (racecievers only), slick vs tacky etc

  24. Hi, S1ap, I'm afraid you hit the problem right on the head, I have grown to love dirt track racing and I still think nASScar should run at least one race a year on the dirt, but as you've said, they have just taken away too much horsepower to even run a paved short track, in the Cup Cars, much less on dirt. Maybe nASScar will just let the Cup teams buy, rent or borrow a Late Model for the dirt race. Your guess is as good (or better) as mine.
