The cat comment is interesting. I live in cyprus where 300000 cats have died from a mutated form of covid, causing feline infective peritonitis. The virus is the mutated form of covid 19 from humans. So the virus has jumped from humans to cats.
Feel like the most unrealistic part of most non-supernatural zombie plauge apocolypses, is the zombies ability to distinguish a infected from non infected individual.
I dont think theres even really examples of parasites (which can be a bit more complicated in behavioral changes as opposed to viruses) driving infected hosts to cooperate with other infected hosts.
Like those zombies in train to busan should be ripping each other appart the moment they turn, not be able to spot an uninfected person 30 feet away from behind glass and immediately recognize them as an uninfected and charge forward with 50 of their new zombie buddies.
