Malak? Sure it wasn’t George Santos ?
Bill Clinton being corrupt? No way. Lmfao
Incompetence followed by officials desperately trying to cover up their incompetence. Not some vast conspiracy, as it would have been easier to dispose of the bodies in other ways given their resources.
F….ng Bill Clinton. Not allegedly
“Welcome new writer! Now get in the basement!”
Y'know, I've been looking forward to this since Simon mentioned it on Decoding the Unknown, but … I'm not really into the new writer's style. I know there are American writers in the Whistler-verse, but this girl feels really American, if that makes sense. It's also a little stilted.
Am I crazy or is there a similar case where some boys were out hunting and witnessed a district attorney involved in a drug exchange. The DA killed them there and set them on train tracks to hide their cause of death 🤔
Fantastic writing, one of your best episodes.
The reason people like Malak and other important people for prosecutions and trials is because if you undermine them and say they're incompetent you open up almost every case they've ever even been adjacent to for review and possibly thrown out. They don't want all the extra work, money spent and crimes that were solved becoming unsolved.
this new writer understood the assignment and THOROUGHLY crushed it! i hope you bring them back for more scripts!
Me finding out I'm nearly 3 inches taller than Simon: "Oh, weird."
All undiscovered drug labs are just that, until they’re discovered.
And when they are, unless those that did the discovering are eliminated, those that are involved in the manufacturing or distribution of the drugs will find themselves behind bars, or eliminated themselves to prevent them from testifying against their higher ups.
Now, concerning my personal knowledge of cannabis; I can’t even start imagining the number of pounds of pot I have personally inhaled while combating the pain associated with ankylosing spondylitis; it has never once put me anywhere close to being to unaware of my surroundings, or unable to react, if need be.
Fortunately Arkansas now allows the actual cannabis growers to sell their harvest through dispensaries that the growers themselves own. This has greatly reduced the price of really pure and potent flower, and put nefarious growers out of business.
In the early 80’s, I personally stumbled upon a large cannabis growing field in the Trinity River lowlands just east of Denton Texas. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together, knows that you need to quickly, very quickly vacate the area. You do not touch, you do not look around, you just leave. Do boys know this, maybe, but they’re also very curious. But their curiosity could very easily get them killed. And I’m just talking about pot growers in the 80’s! Now consider the very real possibility that they stumbled upon a Meth lab deep in the woods.
No one will ever know for sure what Don and Kevin stumbled upon, the evidence was utterly obliterated by the train. Those that could possibly make known the facts have been silent.
The use of a massive train to obliterate evidence, the steadfast silence of those in power, this all points to the professionalism of a coverup paid for, and perpetrated by a large drug cabal.
The sheer amount of gaslighting around trying obtain the information on the case is absurd
Hanlon is right and all, but never underestimate the capacity of southern law enforcement for violent corruption. A guy in my town (in Alabama) who had a known public dispute with some sheriff's deputies was tied to a chair outside his house and executed, and everyone just kinda shrugged.
Re 1:03ish, the lawyer bringing in the sheriff and trying to pressure mom into retracting her statement. That is not "her" lawyer, he's a prosecutor, otherwise he wouldn't have the power to convene any sort of investigation.
I'm sorry I know I was an EMT 20 years after this happened but when you go to a scene even if you don't provide any medical care it's still generates paperwork. Either you get the person's signature that they decline medical care or you arrive on scene and it's a DOA, you do CPR until somebody tells you otherwise, it still generates reports, but even then you generate a report.
I get where ppl discredit the drug theroy, but it also bothers me that (per paramedics) there were 4 rando men out there that night claiming to be part of the fire dept (who werent) but were involved in drugs, but there's no link to drugs??? Maybe i missed something in the vid.
My unresearched opinion, after listening to this excellently written and narrated video, is that its probably a combination of police corruption and cover up. Considering the kind of response when the first father asked a cop if they jad seen two teenagers out there and it sounded confrontational and how the boys may have in fact been illegally hunting I think they were caught and the officer(s) who found them got a little too rough. In an attempt to "prove a point" or "make an example" the boys were accidentally killed and the officers panicked. Then, rather than own up to it and suffer an investigation (that may have uncovered other issues) the boys were set up for a proper autopsy to be likely difficult. Not to mention knowing of either the horrible incompetence or willingness to fudge reports from the doctor. They never thought this would be so heavily investigated by the parents probably and they were just protecting that blue line.
Also sidenote about hunting alligators: there are a lot of rules to hunt them and you can get in a lot of trouble for breaking them. They give you a set number of alligators you can kill and to prove it they have tags you put through their tail to prove you are within your limit. There are rules about where and how you can kill them. They were once close to extinction where I live and now their numbers are fine thanks to these rules. If you kill a gator out of season or without permission, you either better have a great reason or hope wildlife and fisheries don't fucking find out.
I have a theory: the cops killed them. They caught them hunting at night, and in an extreme case of police brutality, they accidentally killed both or one of them. Then in a panic they put the bodies on the tracks.
…and yet: forest drops are 'standard' by plane smugglers based on the numerous stories and biographies.
Nothing in the story every looked at the train-tables and assessed when the last trains on the tracks. If its the 80s and you can easily smuggle by mail…you can easily smuggle by rail with some train workers/cops on the take.
I wouldn't be surprised if they found time-tables and that trains were passing through the area around the time that they were killed. tracks weren't as densely packed, trains were much shorter…I wouldn't be surprised if some of the local cops were helping oversee the smugglers offloading coke/etc from a stopped train, the boys curious about why the train is stopped in middle of nowhere, stumble on the operation…get beaten/stabbed/shot. tossed on tracks for the 'next train'. MAYBE the smuggling train even ran them over, the tarp was to cover it, and the train that thinks they hit them (1st) was just in fact running them over another time.
Although, since we also know that even in the digital era of 2020s a sizable % of drugs are smuggled via ordinary UPS/FedEx/USPS…I wouldn't be surprised if the smuggling operation was rail-based.
Simon …you dont know what being treed by a dog is? Do you have no concept of hunting dogs? I do have to remind myself that you dont like dogs, but I know how hunting dogs work. There's a whole Disney movie about it, ffs
Edit: its Fox and the Hound. I bet if I watched it today I'd cry. I also had a Border Terrier, which is bred for hunting small game, and he killed one of my gerbils, as well as several lizards. I dont blame him for it because it was what he was. He was also the sweetest dog you could ever have.
