I'm pretty sure they mentioned this in passing during the reveal but glad they cleared it up for folks with time limit hesitancy
I never had any doubts. For veterans like that to put a time mechanic in just to frustrate players, never would have happened imo.
Thank goodness. I hate time limits
You were absolutely correct on the time limit aspect. I immediately threw up a red flag as soon as I heard “time limit”.
I agree with you on the time limits. I hate them in most games .
🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
I got the same first impressions as you. I can tolerate time limits in games, but I can hardly say I enjoy them—that's just real life xD.
Cohh mentioned that when a game is designed to be replayed to see all content, you don't get to experience only the new content. Usually, you must replay a lot of the 'base content.' And that's one thing that can make it boring, annoying, too long, etc
Sometimes I just want to play the story once, see all it has to offer, and explore the consequences of my character's actions.
But yeah, this looks more promising now. I'm still waiting for things to become a bit clearer, but this helps shed some light on it. Thx!
I think it's situational. If I'm intentionally playing a racing game or platformer or something like that, where the point is to do a time trial thing, fine. For stuff like shooters and RPGs and so on, I'm for damn sure going to want to play it at my own speed, particularly because I like to look around and admire the graphics all those devs spent so much time on making it look pretty and whatnot. And look for secrets. And also kinda sorta try to break the game a bit with the boundaries here and there.
If the timer is like Disco Elysium, where I didn't find out, despite playing through the game, until this very video that there even was such a timer for the game, if it's unobtrusive in that manner, I'd give the game the pass for having it and play it.
The time limit should apply to story related quests only though… i think.
You should check out eve of calamity. it handles time limits so good. 🙏
Omg thank you. I am really excited to play a vampire game again. Hopefully this can scratch the itch but i was really worried about the time limits
I share your views on time limits. I love how this game weaves history and mythology into the story. Three of the 4 vampires are fascinating, I haven't heard what the young one's story is or how he fits in. Polish studios seem to be really creating a presence in the RPG gaming world. I love how they combine Polish lore, Eurasian mythology and actual history into their games and stories. This game sounds really good but I'm not an ARPG player unfortunately.
I think they want you to play through dead rising multiple times to do all the extra missions etc but I'm not sure.
I dont like time limits in rpgs, crpgs… rpgs are all about exploring the environment, culture, lore and characters. Let me go at my own pace and enjoy.
I do not like time limits at all. It sounds like it will be done better than most games with time limits, but I'm still unsure of how this timer works. I don't see how you can have time limits without limiting what you can do. I'll have to wait and see reviews after it's finally out.
For Kingmaker, I am proud to say I did a meticulous playthrough, doing all quests and searching every corner, and fully developed my Kingdom stats within the limit, but yes it was hard. What made it possible, even though I slowly searched everywhere, is because I radically only rested when my party was exhausted. I did a crazy amount of stuff between rests (which are not possible in WotR, but there is no timer in the same way, which is nice honestly!).
I think many will agree the very worst kind of time limits in games… are those you cannot really see or track like in KCD1 (for that game, I fetched a list on the Internet of quests with a time limit).
Its looking good, I have high hopes for this game. I just hope we won't wait for it next 4+ years.
I have the exact same concern. I like to explore everything, search every nook and corner. I like to take my sweet time while playing. So time limit was a concern when it was first discussed. But I now feel positive about it.
I am not exactly against i still like Monster Rancher time limit which is the time until your monster to die
But again it should be really well explained on Kingmaker for example it is never explained that you should do the main quests as fast as possible well except the final one
i agree that time limits destroys game. thats what worries me abt dawnwalker.
Big preesh, man. I downloaded toybox to pause time in Kingmaker anytime I was on the world map on my replay of it, I fuckin hate missing stuff because of artificial time limits. I don't mind time based progression, like in persona/ metaphor. Honestly, Kingmaker specifically is what put a sour taste in my mouth. Glad to hear it's going to be well balanced this time. Probably :p
I don't like time limits myself.
But not because of the time limit is … well limiting me in seeing content.
Take Baldurs Gate 3 for example. It has a generous time limit (take to long and the elder brain attacks), but you can't see all content in one playthrough because of mutually exclusive choices.
I hate time limits because I DESPISE feeling pressured.
Blood of Dawnwalker feels like it will be in the same vain.
In the original reveal they put way to much focus on the time but simultaneously to few information.
I'm not a fan of time limits either 🙁 (EDIT: To clarify, I am fine with urgent quests, but not where it puts a choice on you to do this, or that. I'm happy to drop what I'm doing and come back to it, to resolve something urgent, inbetween, but I don't want to choose which of the two I have to do, since I can only do one)
Fallout 1 named now you have to play it.
I'm worried about the time limit too to the point i rather mod it out of the game if possible.
I'm curious if there will be dialogue / narrative considerations for a player choice pathway that lends itself to a slightly more familiar / respectful relationship between the main character and the vampire patriarch. Soulless monster, exploited the situation for his gain as some messianic savior that the people would accept even with dire sacrifices, but.. I mean, depending on how the blood interaction was, he did "save" your sister, and there doesn't seem to be a complete lack of rationale and humanity.
I don't know that I would expect something like a Saren Arterius situation dialogue bossing situation, but still, I'm hopeful that the vampire patriarch won't be this distant, disembodied, fleetingly present presence in the story; I want them to have opportunities to interact, I want them to characterize both of them, and each other through the other, preferably with how you decide to speak to them, and perhaps how you go about ultimately dismantling their stranglehold on the territory.
For its faults, the original Netflix Castlevania series did at least take the barest shred of time characterizing Dracula and Alucard, and even though they didn't get much time at all on screen together, that ending fight was incredibly memorable. Get us invested.
Slandered always asking us if we're having a nice day, but are you having a nice day?
Great video!
Time limit and "miss out on content" is pretty high up there for me too. It's fun to get at all the content, it's good value.
And I want to do that in my single playthrough. I don't replay and grind through again just to get at some missed content due to a time limit. Now, missed content due to RPG choices…that I get, and it's not arbitrary.
Plus, being rushed by a clock never comes across as fun. It's not how I play. It's not what I enjoy. I dunno, in general, time limits ruin games; sounds familiar.
However, sometimes games have visions and idiosyncrasies that don't line up with what I enjoy and will spend money on. That's ok. I get it. Can't buy All The Things.
Thanks for keeping us up to date about this game. I still have no idea WTH it actually will play like, but seems promising.
I hate time limits also when I play I want to find every item and do every quest time limits make that hard to impossible. I hope that if you side with the vampires that at the end maybe you can be one yourself.
Great video as usual thanks for all the new info! Looking forward to more videos on this game, really intrigued by it so far
I'm so excited for this game. I'm not only a fan of this team but also a huge fan of vampire genre especially with good lore and medieval setting. so this is right up my alley! as for time limits.. I guess the idea is don't take to many simultaneous side quests at once and you'll be fine…
Thanks
This game gets more interesting with every update I hear on it
I agree with you on time limits and have the same opinions. However this makes me ask the question of why even have the time limit at all if it will not make you miss content or make critical decisions based on urgency?
I appreciate it’s not a “time limit” but it is a quest legit seeing as x amount of quest rush time and you have 30 days and I’ve seen people saying fable was the same and yes it was but one could do all of the quests and play after the main quest so yea to me it’s a “time limit”
I'm still not thrilled about this time limit. My inner completionist weeps. I guess in this case, its all going to depend on the difficulty. I'll probably just wait until I watch you play to decide.
