The Black Foe: Being Towards Death

Prof. Mills examines the complex relationship between the psychological wish for an afterlife, the ontological parameters that condition our being towards death, and the cosmogonic forces of Being and Nothing in the works of Jung, Heidegger, and Hegel. He introduces the notion of an omega principle operating in the collective unconscious, in our felt-existentiell relation to our impending death, and in the dialectical mediations of speculative reason that contemplate how nothingness conditions Being.
