Just like the the USA keeps clinging on to the 2nd amendment to justify no regulations around guns, resulting in kids getting mowed down in school every other day, the court's initial overturning of the conviction based on the fifth amendment is IN-fucking-SANE to me.
The constitution was written centuries ago, I'm fairly sure the founding fathers didn't think about automatic weapons, or criminal cases involving DNA evidence and stupid criminals writing confessions after conviction.

There are many crimes that are so appalling and inhumane that there is no result other than the 'death penalty' that will allow the family to properly grieve; but one immense hang up would stem from all the many cases of false convictions and innocent people being convicted… Could courtrooms prevent sending innocent people to prison, 100%?

I think the original verdict should have stood. He clearly planned these crimes to be one event. I donāt think the fact that he had to wait for Kristie to get home should make it a separate crime.
