The Bills are (literally) changing how defense is played.

This week’s film breakdown analyzes the Buffalo Bills defense and the way they are changing the game. Last year we saw NFL defenses blitz less and less as 2 high coverages became more prevalent, well now? The Bills literally didn’t blitz the Rams once. This isn’t a one-off either, I don’t think the Bills had some wild, insane game plan, I think they’re blazing a path where Quarterbacks get blitzed less than ever. How can defenses be successful without sending any blitzes at all? This week’s episode uses the all-22 coaches film to analyze the Buffalo Bills new defense.

  1. I haven't watched football in ages, since before the days of Lawrence Taylor, but some of this has got to be the Bills defense being good. If you can get pressure on a QB with just four rushers, that's just superior athletes on defense.

  2. Someone must have clued in the Miami Dolphins.
It's hilarious that so-called experts come out with stuff like this, then the very thing they cited lays a giant egg.
    "Any Given Sunday" baby.
Face it. The Bills might not even win their division.

  3. well, so much for the Bills "changing" the face of Defense.
They are now missing so many players the team may have to go after CFL Players to fill out the weekly roster empty spots.
What was looking as a promising year, could end up being a disaster.
Too many Players are either on multiple weeks off for injury or now placed on IR Season Ending.

  4. Everything depends on the front four if they don't get presure then they have to send more defenders which creates space for offence so it's all down to the front four so nothing new

  5. Why blitz when you can get that kind of great pressure rushing four. If the Rams O-Line performed a bit better and gave Stafford some time, I don't think it would have worked so well.

  6. Well, it would take a few years. But, QB mobile players would bring RPO concepts that will make NFL defenses be honest, at a risk of injuring the QB and shorter lifespan. But, this 2 deep shell defense is quite amazing.

  7. Seems to me what will happen in response is the offense will start running the ball; if you can average 4+ yards a carry, the defense has to start bringing down safeties or risks being exhausted by Q4 which opens up the passing game.

  8. The extra safety didn't help against Tua Tagovailoa when the Bills had them at 3rd and twenty two in the third quarter. The three man rush didn't even get near Tua. He picked the Bills secondary apart all day long and the feeble pass rushing game provided little pressure. If the Bills want to get to the Super Bowl Leslie Frazier has to be able to change tactics when the game plan is not working.

  9. lol, hows that rev going?
over hyped clown show that puts more pressure on trying to break tablets, and Posh Allen crying to the officials…the Super Bowl favs are already a joke, that the simple minded will never understand.
