The characters are not that diferent from each other and yes, its repetitive and you HAVE TO grind the same dungeon over and over again.
But the worst thing is the dificulty ramp. After the story final boss, it unlocks 3 more post game chapters and a hardmode. Both of them are UNFAIRLY hard. You can have the best of the best monsters, the best of the best equipments AND the best real money paid characters in max level, and you still get one shotted easily.
The game is good and have it's dificulty, making you have to grind for better equipments and better monsters, and to level up your characters and monsters… but there is a limit, and that limit doen't rise when you complete the story. So, you become the strongest you can become, but you are still REALLY WEAK to the post game, forcing you to be like a Dark Souls pro player and avoid every single attack, while mashing buttons to defeat enemies with A TON of HP and defense that makes your damage laughable.
They need to set the dificulty down and rise the level limit of characters and monsters so we can keep leveling up to reach stats that can go against those monsters, or else, the game is going to die.
well as i said on other video Colopl there game usually unrefined and yeah as i try a lot of system is mix of good on the other game it a little fun but system have a lot of problem and kind of repetitive about the improvement of the game didn't expect much if it not hit Colopl will abandoned it in no time[on JP side it about same as chimera when they newly open so..] not have to mention this game didn't even have official twitter on JP side lol that how much they care about it more likely they use this game to test the market mostly
So it's just typical mobile game. Not surprise if you don't enjoy it.
At first the game was mostly seen like the monster hunter stories open world game from its screenshot. But after some gameplay, it was an quite a boring game. It feels quite repetitive while playing game. And it has not such a story for it only some cutscene. I am literally disappointed. Though I look forward to other game like MHS, nexomon, coromon etc. would love to know your recommendation for same
Phil Spencer and Todd Howard doesn't know how monster-catching mechanic was used?
Volzerk is just a mobile game, but needs to clean up.
It’s why I’m not encouraged to invest in free to play games. Most of the times they purposefully sabotage the game to encourage you to spend real money
I been enjoying the game tbh the first few hours was kinda boring but it got better for me plus I enjoy the cross breeding option too
Needs more skills to learn to play around with. Do you learn skills or have to like find them in boxes?
I guess it's an issue that's common for games that are primarily mobile. In the beginning there's a bunch of stuff to do, but they're pretty much made to be a simple experience that you just don't play for too long, cause in the long run you'll do everything there is to do in the game and just check it for about 30 minutes every day. An issue with the a lot of older mobile games was that they were so grindy that it was pretty much full time job.
Don't know how I feel about how I feel about most characters being paid-only though. I've seen games that do this instead of gacha, but they let you buy the characters with the in-game premium currency too, which you can get by playing.
When you speak of fire, do you mean passion?
I'll say this judging it as an action game: the first hour of the game raised a lot of flags. The initial reveal of the map showcases expansive locales, which is good, and also a metric mon-load of mobs that you button mash to kill, which is not good. Add the mission-based framework on top, and you already know it's set up to be a grind. The timed hits and special attacks are….okay. Not exactly innovative. Switching characters to change your attacks is nice….except a proper single player action game would have those 3 sets of combos and mechanics on the same character.
Next Order's combat doesn't immediately wow people, but the amount of attention needed for individual fights is paced better, and the freedom to choose how you want to do your cheer skillshots is deceptively flexible for a one-button mechanic. It is genuinely an improvement on the older titles, and I only hope more mon games get that kind of care and more when designing real time mon battles.
Totally agree with what you say about the game.
I like Volzerk and I play it a lot since you made me discover it (I arrived chapter 7)
Most of the time it's button mashing, especially when the enemies get tougher as you progress through the game.
Against Mou-Mons and bosses, ended up spamming skills to stun them all the time, and can't do anything but mash the buttons again.
I wish they add sprinting by the way to make exploration less boring.
it’s the same model that kings raid does. honestly, i prefer his to gacha style monetization.
The game definitely can feel pretty repetitive. I am currently starting chapter 6. The gameplay doesn't change too much outside getting harder. There's also a LOT of grinding needed for crossbreeding good monmou. That being said, I'm personally having fun with it and want to explore different characters in the future. Just need to take breaks like you said or I get burnt out.
My issues, having played and beaten the main story;
– Felt like I needed to reroll to get a better character. I started with the pink fox girl, but she sucked. I started over and picked Ruchut, and had zero problems until post-game.
– Difficulty spike is obscene. You can lazily do up to chapter 7 or 8, but then you want to actually care a bit up to chapter 10. Then, if you don't min-max in post-game, you're going to lose.
– RNG with initiations. I've wasted so many great mou-mon with 4 as their individual value because the game thinks I want the trash traits instead of Heroism or Courage.
– Awakening is a BS kyne sink. It's necessary to get a decent monster, which makes it even more annoying to go grind money when you run out.
– Drop rates for mini-mon. I want the secret mini-mon at +5, but even with a drop boost, the stupid things just refuse to drop. They aren't even good mini-mon.
– Spawn rates for the monsters you want. I'm so sick of seeing Air Etra.
– Boss crystals and glass. What a horribly unfun mechanic, farming these. Break a boss, HOPE it drops extras, then win and find out you didn't even get the items you need.
The game is fun, don't get me wrong, but having given it a very thorough playthrough of over 100 hours, I can safely say that its negatives are pretty bad. The breeding is especially egregious with the RNG on hearts and initiations. I genuinely hate that part of the game, especially since you NEED to care about this mechanic. I quit playing because I spent more time trying to find a good mou-mon than actually playing the game itself.
Love the honesty ed, keep up the great work my dude! 🙂i hope they keep adding stuff to the game.
I do like the game a great deal and appreciate you sharing your opinion.
Yes, it can be repetitive and the other characters, even the ones that cost money, don't really bring anything new to the table. The character mechanics are exactly the same if you spend no money or the $8.99 for the 4-star characters.
I wish there were ways to get more than the 3-button combo, different characters or mou-mons should have different attack mechanics. I also wish each type had different movement options and alternatives to their attack.
The dodge mechanic is very suspect in my opinion 😂 Slow as molasses and doesn't cover a large enough area.
Now that the game is out, I really think the devs need to do a "quality of life" pass or two for the game. Improve the tool tips and give more options for movement, attack, dodge, and character customization.
my big problem is adds are to intrusive
A lot of video games only get good "later" when they introduce a bunch of cool stuff mid-way through the game. I remember people trying to defend FFXIII by saying it gets good by the time you reach Gran Pulse…which is over 20 hours into the game. If a game can't be good from the get-go, then people won't bother slogging through something boring to get to the good parts.
I get Dynasty Warriors vibes front he combat. Mash to Win. If combat's gonna be realtime Zelda and Eldin Ring are the gold standard. Each fight feels more involved because of all the potential variables in play.
I noticed that when you and FG first covered it. I did like the mechanics and the game itself. But I picked up on repetitiveness right away and decided not to try it for now.
is this a gacha game?
Wow the free to play mobile game plays like a free to play mobile game, I'm shocked…
Its a free game, they're ALL like that! Yes, it is a monetization thing.
The game is very repetitive. I beat the 10 ch when it was in Japanese and ch 11 and 12 in English. They need to make changes to the dungeons because it feels like the same dungeon every time with minor changes.
The boss fights are alright.
i tried to like it after playing for a whole week just couldn't got bored of the repetitive gameplay they should rework on it and add more skills at least with not just normal skills just add some unique skills that u can acquire with talentree depending on the build ur following could unlock something you would try if u didn't like that u can just reset and try another build that's for the main characters not monsters but if they could do for both would be insane but i doubt they would do it…
