Not you too Oxhorn.
I would say it could kinda work. The US lost Washington in 1812, yet was still able to fight and defeated the British in New Orleans. Though I think it is not exactly plausible.
I can see a logical fix to this being similar to control station enclave. In recognizing their opposition (BOS, Caesars Legion, etc) just like how the last president of the U.S. disappeared to control station Enclave prior to the bombs dropping out of some recognition of what was to come, the NCR could have easily done the same by relocating its leadership without informing the public. Perhaps as a means of leaving behind a red herring so that opposition would waste time storming the unexpectedly-defunct capital. And just like the themes of poor government accountability shown in pre-war season 1 clips; this could show that yet again, a government kept its population in the dark amidst the beginning of its downfall. In that way, even after rebuilding, it would show the NCR to have flaws just as Vault Tec and the Enclave did.
The divide nukes were sent to shady sand by him?
The times the bombs dropped was also wrong. It was 9:47am on eastcoast.
Which means some kid was having a party at 6am on the eastcoast.
Dont make sense.
So here's why the date doesn't really miss for me. What if, not everyone is keeping time at the same rate or… Accurately at all. But one thing that I can see having gone by the wayside is the use of leap years. Over 220 years, that's a lot of missed leap years and thus, an increasing deviation in calendar keeping. I have a hard time thinking that everyone was able to maintain time 100% accurately between anybody or everybody.
i doubt todd howard has played fallout new vegas
Ox is pissed! With good reason for sure,
I never played any fallout games but watch your older videos after watching 3 episodes on fallout series, got confused and now I get it, thanks! my guess is the series are using alternate timeline just to make it easy for them to make new stories which are not canon to the game.
Couldnt the vualt just be the new capital of shady sands.
Show looks lame. Yes I remember all these vault dwellers with make up and perfect hair…
The only way to make that date make sense would be if the NCR in New Vegas were simply bluffing about their capital being fine when they knew the reality was different. It could also take place after the ending where the Courier nuked both the NCR and Legion regions to explain why the Legion hadn't claimed the land…maybe that mushroom cloud references that as well. I haven't watched the series to know what happens in detail to know if I'm way off, but it was just a thought I had based on this video.
If they want to hand a W to the Legion and the Enclave, who am I to deny them?
They could be underground in a vault
everyone knows that Bethesda hats new vegas game and wants to rewrite it
Do you people not know how to read a timeline? The arrow points to a later event in the timeline. If Shady Sands blew up in 2277 it would have stopped there. Not continue on.
At first i was like "Oh maybe they're so strong at the mojave because they've been trying to relocating to there after shady sands, but i totally forgot about how the people there acted like Shady Sands were still fine.
Altho it would make some sense if the NCR wanted to cover up the fact Shady Sands is destroyed, but the wastes would probably spread the rumor enough to get to them. They would probably do best saying it was an error and change the number digitally to fix it.
In my opinion it's either of these two. 1. The date is an honest mistake, happens to the best shows. 2. Is an indication to hard-core fans that this version of Fallout differs in one way from the games, and that is that SS was destroyed along with the NCR and all that means. My prediction is that our main characters will at one point make a democratic community and settle SS as the new republic ro NCR or whatever.
One thing to consider is that the sign in Shady Sands lists it as the "First" Capital of the NCR. That could mean that as the NCR expanded, they likely moved their capital to another location, so while Shady Sands was destroyed, not the NCR as a whole. Even I'm the shows final credits, you see a Securitron that has been deactivated or destroyed, hinting that House was likely overthrown, possibly by the NCR. The show gave more of an impression that ShadybSands and the surrounding area were abandoned after the bombing, and that Moldaver and her group were merely holdouts, trying to restore it.
I also assumed they killed of NCR till i started to look in to it. No, NCR is not dead. NCR had resource issues, which is why they were expanding in to the Mojave. Shady Sands location and it being a giant city was a giant drain on those resources. So lack of resources and supplies started to accumulate issues. NCR realizing that Shady Sands had no future abandoned it and moved their capital to one of the more stable cities. Which lead to the event being called "fall of Shady Sands". Also why the billboard called it the 1st capital of NCR. Most left, but the more die hard shady sands citizens stayed behind. By the time the Nuke dropped Shady Sands was a husk in an abandoned territory. Its why the BoS (an enemy army) was already in the region. Keeping that in mind fills in the confusion why the so called powerhouse NCR is a fairly small group which has a raider reputation in the area. Aside from the formerly NCR owned armored HQ, they live like any other generic scrap built settlement. tldr: we didnt get to see NCR, we got to see a fringe faction who claimed to be NCR, without being connected to the NCR.
Unless they make some major post edits to the show, I like to think that the series is more of an adaptation than actual canon lore. Because the conflicting parts are just too big to ignore or work around. Kinda like how The Last of Us makes series makes some changes to what happened in the game itself.
Anyone complaining about the serum that Ghouls have to take should remember that RadAway is a thing in this universe maybe they need it to help reduce their active radiation levels
3:27
You could have a number of factors too:
1. The teacher got the date wrong
2. The production staff got it wrong (on the TV show).
But all in all, I don't think it matters. If your capital city got bombed today, would that make America cease to exist?
Would that make other American states cease to communicate with Washington ("back east")? I am just reversing what they say in NV here and putting RL events on it.
Often times people wrap themselves up with fictional events in video games as if they are right, correct and unwavered. Whilst that isn't how history is written in our real life, so why would it be any different to fallout's in game world?
I think Hank is the Courier.
I’m mostly joking but wouldn’t be unhappy about it.
Didn't Todd Howard address this? He said the fall and the nuke are meant to be 2 separate events. It recons nothing.
Todd Howard has confirmed that Shady Sands was destroyed just after the events of New Vegas. Everything is fine.
2277 is the start of Shady Sands fall, not it's destruction.
An underwhelming House
Flawless? Come onn
I honestly think they should have stayed away from West Coast lore entirely.
I assume Kimball moved the capital during his presidency if you read the sign for Shady Sands it says first capital why say first if it was still the capital of the NCR. I assume a new capital city was established and Shady Sands started slowly falling apart be it economically or politically with the capital change being the main reason they look at in history. The ages of characters still work if the city was destroyed in 2082 that way its after NV and to be more exact probably happened in late summer or fall since we see a young Lucy with an apple which are harvested around those times. If I had to guess ages I would say young Lucy and young Maximus are about 3-6 years old in those flashbacks around when Shady Sands got blown up meaning they would be 17-20 years old in the show. I want to say Lucy is probably 5 making her 19 to make it match up with the Lone Wanderer leaving their vault at 19 to find their dad.
This video should taken down, todd confirmed that Shady sands is destroyed shortly after NV events
Rome completed its fall from being a political powerhouse in 427AD and wasn’t destroyed. The HRE also continued to exist as the Eastern portion of the empire for hundred of years after. Assuming that Shady Sands was nuked in 2277 and that they’re retconning is a pathetically pessimistic take on the whole situation and just screams anti-Bethesda/Todd Howard bias.
Wow, what a video, Oxhorn. Well done.
I'm convinced that the show is't lore friendly. I'll still watch it thought.
Y’all see a fanatical cult that worships one of the NCRs former citizens and think that the information they are telling has to be true and if it’s not then it’s not canon. I think it’s way more reasonable to just assume they are misinformed or lying.
