  1. "The personal goodwill I lend to Elite Dangerous is inversely proportional in subdued disdain held against Star Citizen. This is something I don't feel is true and would defend against, but here we are with my list nonetheless." 😝

A slight ribbing, of course, but a feeling I've gathered through your content coverage of both these games, as well as others.

  2. You should have mentioned X4…while it is not the best space game there is, it certainly is top 5

Anyway, I think the problem of spacegames is "ambition"…what I mean is, space is the most vast thing there is…we simply lack the tecnology to reproduce every aspect of what life in space would be, just with the work of a single development team…
I think the secret to make a good space game would be to focus on a FEW aspects of life in space, and work to deliver those aspects in detail and close to perfection…
Wasting time and resources to try and reproduce everything that could be done by a civilization that lives in space and every aspect of that everyday life, is what ruins potentially good games, delivering half baked products.

  3. For me remains starfield with over 600 hours play. I'm not despite the fact that it doesn't have an entry into the atmosphere and that annoying loading screen. I'm still surprised after 600 hours.. many of you don't think you've played more than 100 hours. yes, i m an old school enthusiastic sci fi gamer. I've been waiting for this game since I was a kid after I finished starblade.

  4. Starborn needs to be worked on by more people
Yes, the game has incredible potential, but the tedious campaign, the blocking bugs and the overall barren populated areas are still to evident to this day.
Having a free roam mode without being forced through the story to unlock items would be incredibly useful imo.

  5. I‘m happy that Sarfield was not nominated in any category for the game awards. I had some fun with it, but it is not a good game in the sense that it just replicated the Bethesda sandbox game formula without making the slightest effort to add anything new or improve on the glaring weaknesses of these games like the bad writing (with starfield imo hitting a new low) and the repetitiveness.

  6. Starfield is NOWHERE NEAR best space game of all time. Its a shitstorm with an identity crisis. A game that presents exploration as exploring already explored planets while joining an exploration group that has a long history of not having explored even the planet their base stands on. Just one stroll on a planet will get you to realize how empty the game actually is with nothing to take your attention while you are playing jogging simulator while traveling from a settlement to the next closest land object of interest. Its a shallow game with no deep mechanics.

  7. Still cant look past the stolen art assets I have noticed in Spaceborne 2. I don't know if they are placeholders or not but it could cause trouble for the devs down the line.

  8. Starfield is not a space game! Only because you can from time to time fly into space doesn’t make it a space game. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey isn’t a seafaring game only because you can from time to time sit on trireme. A game where you spent most of the time in space is a space game.

  9. yep, everspace 2 is great. already played it a bit in early access and started a new game at release and played completely through the campaign and side missions. i still have to try spacebourne 2, i bought it but haven't played it once. the first spacebourne wasn't bad so i have high hopes for this one to be even better. i still wish there were more space games though, especially ones that you can put hundreds of hours into, like X4. even better if they have good controls for a controller, like chorus so they can be played on the steam deck

  10. In my personal opinion Starbourne 2 wiped the competition of the map, leaving Starfield in it's grave before it even had a chance to be born. In terms of Everspace 2 it obviously an enjoyable game, but any space game that doesn't offer on foot exploration isn't a real space game in my opinion. Nonetheless, enjoyed the vid and can't wait for more. 🙂

  11. 'Completed' Everspace 2 in early access and it was already awesome back then but haven't replayed the final version yet. Soooo many great games these days and not enough time to play them all 🙁

  12. To me, Starfield is the most disappointing space game of 2023, along with KSP2, which is "Early Access" and not a full release. The companies in charge of forcing the release of KSP2 on us, should be permabanned and criminal charges brought for theft and deception. No excuses for how horribly they managed that.

  13. My personal favorite space games right now are X4, No Man's Sky, Ixion and Everspace 2. Ironically for players that want an immersive space flight experience (and haven't played it before) I would still recommend ED if they can grab it on a sale.

  14. I feel like ignoring the controversy surrounding Kerbal 2 and the publisher's treatment of the studio is disingenuous while trying to say the game isn't up to par.

  15. I'm glad to see ED made the list though totally understand why it didn't get the number one slot (or even the top 5!) – however, I wonder if OA might be up for doing "Best ever space exploration game" and if so would ED fare better? Personally, I'm not a fan of shooter games and so those space games which are really 1st person shooters set in a space theme dont tick the box for me. ANy thoughts on the best ever exploration space game? P.
