Can you guys go through ASM 315 – 317?
My favorite Mcfarlane.
And possibly ASM #400 My favorite Bagley issue.
I’m so glad Marvel survived the heroes reborn era. I feel like DC is currently in that same sort of struggle now.
Also one of the worst Avengers comics ever made. Heroes Reborn was SO bad.
I can't un-see this. This is appalling. Popular but still appalling. Thank you.
Best selling but probably the worst Avengers run of all time. Worthless story/art and just a rapidly diminishing payday for the Image guys and Marvel
Yam Bags of Thunder ⚡
Nearly killed me when Ed said "Yambags"
And that female anatomy on the final page is just…really wrong.
Which bugs me because I was copying that kind of thing before I learned about underdrawing
My God I hate Rob Leifelds janky art style so much. It's just the worst. Makes for an entertaining Kayfabe vid though.
And I'm pretty sure "she who art my daughter" is not correct classical grammar…
The Stern/Buscema/Palmer & Busiek/Perez runs are my favorite Avengers. Heroes Reborn and the run that preceded it were awful.
I get the comment about wanting to see the big names characters in team books but most of their development is saved for their main books. The secondary characters usually really get to shine in team books, as they aren't headlining anywhere else.
That Scarlet With costume is painful. They made it look even more like Wanda's wearing a slinky nighty. Ready fro some Eyes Wide Shut action. WTF?
The action figure's anatomy is more accurate than Thor's. Jesus! Thor penis engaged!
I think i passed on this back in the day. A lot of the backgrounds look murky. Some of the figure drawing loos bizarre, like that woman wiht wierdly long lega on the last but one page and the colouring doesn't help at all throughout the entire book. Still, it struck a cord I guess. I think Marvel got Perez back on the title but for me it was too late.
I loved this series when it launched, but in retrospect I think part of it was denial. X-Force #1 was my first US comic so I have a soft spot for Liefeld.
I was looking forward to hearing your opinions on Enchantress' 14-heads-tall appearance in that last scene though.
I found a copy of this recently for 50p, and after reading it I felt like I'd been robbed. It's quite possibly the worst comic I've ever read, and I've read Skate Man.
The comic store I worked at got invited to visit with the Heroes Reborn teams at Oakland Wondercon when they were promoting it. Rob was fun to talk with , but he was so excited about getting rid of the A on Caps head. It was almost like his proudest contribution to the character. So weird.
I gave up on maintream comics in the mid 90s.
Looking at this, i understand why.
That is NOT good comic
“He wields two hammers” 😂
You guys gotta cover the busiek/perez avengers run. That’s one of the best aside from the early bendis’s new avengers and Hickman avengers run. Those ar the better examples with solid writing and art for the most part 😂. Because man, that avengers heroes reborn is… it’s something I can tell ya that. I’ve got nostalgia for it, but man, it’s something else.
The only good thing about this run, is that we got the Heroes Return arc to make up for it. Total garbage.
I have come to dislike the overly defined muscularity, the weird interpretation of Thor, and the rest of this comics disjointed and boring ending.
Swordsman was created much earlier than Buscema, specifically Avengers #19 by Don Heck. As for Swordsman here, he's not the original Silver Age character, Rob has his identity as Wade Wilson.
Roger Stern, John Buscema and Tom Palmer had a really strong Avengers run.
Rob has a podcast about the behind the scenes on this event which I found interesting.
Best selling Avengers comic? That's just sad
Love or hate Heroes Reborn, it did serve a purpose. It got Marvel to actually start caring about those book again.
I liked the Wildstorm Iron Man book, especially Tony Stark kicking Whirlwind's ass with Batman utility belt-esque gimmicks.
They actually had these Heroes Reborn issues in toy section of Wal-Mart in 1996/97. I grew up in small town in middle of nowhere lol
As bad as this was it was less boring than Jim Lee's FF 1.
