The Best "First Playthrough Build" for Elden Ring

tl;dr: “Quality builds” scale strength and dexterity to use as many weapons as possible on your first playthrough.
Cheat sheet:
– Pick Hero, Vagabond, or Samurai as your starting class.
– Get minimum stats to wield the weapon you like.
– Get to 27 Vigor to hit the softcap for life.
– Get to at least 20 Endurance for Equip load and Stamina.
– Get to 27 Strength and 40 Dexterity for an effective 40/40 in each stat as two handed multiplies your strength by 1.5.

This basically ensures you can use as many thing as possible you discover in your first playthrough.

  1. Confessor class
    Quality Ashes
Greatsword/Straight sword with Faith utility spells and Mind summons.
Play around with bows and most of the weapons.
The only downside is not using sorcerer spells.
    Golden Seed Keepsake
First raise up End to 12, Then Vigor to 12, Then up Str and Dex for preferred weapons

  2. Always go naked first run. It has most options, greatest flexibility, and helps you to not be tempted to stick with your starting armor/equipment because it looks cool.

  3. Good video, but you forgot one very important point: always equip the biggest, funniest hat you currently have at any given point in time. Numbers are for nerds, if it makes the enemy laugh then that's a significant advantage right from the start. This applies to both PvE and PvP

  4. A few questions:
How do you know the softcap? You say it is therefore at 27.
For me, I want to play a pure Hero without magic. And with STR weapons. I was planning to play with VIG/END/STR. So if I follow your logic, (I may be wrong ^^), I could start with 27 STR / 27 VIG and 27 END? Thank you

  5. I would recommend to stay away from magic as a beginner.
You tend to not be able to do much damage untill you get proper spells, and because youre very fragile youre punished harder for mistakes.
