This game doesn't auto save. You need to go to bed and start the next day for it to save. Many complaints/requests on the discord for this to change, so hopefully it eventually will.
why everyone plays with monsters off? is the combat lackluster? I liked stardew adding monsters to mines but they were push overs after early game, hopefully coral island make fighting monsters more fun and challenging
