One of many things that made me really doubt religion is how in history class in my Christian school, our curriculum talked to us about how the Age of Reason was leaving no room for faith by replacing faith with reason.
So basically it taught us to deny reason for the sake of faith it made no sense to me whatsoever.
A reason to walk away which should be towards the top but not mentioned, is the collective atrocitios history of religion itself.

I know a firend that was atheist but then he became religious (muslim)(I’m a muslim too btw). I told him what changed his mind, and he answered me that there are many thing we will never be able to explain without believing in God, for example near death experiences, the origin of life ( The human body is so fine tuned that it makes it not credible to say it was made by chance, for example human eyes transform electrostatic field into colours, they adjust automatically the thickness of the eye for every distance so that we see clearly, our mind can make us dream and imagine whatever we want (this cannot be explained with a materialistic point of view), the human body as all the species has it’s complementary, just imagine, for all the 9 million species there is a male and a female that complete each other in all the ways… add to this that our heart is beating at the exact rate to allow life, that even second billions of cells die in our body and billions appear, add to this that every specie is attracted to the other sex of the same species, Men by woman, female birds by male birds… this attraction cannot be explained by a materialistic point of view. I've realized this with secularists who try to rationalize the reason to have debates or even live. I think that's a bit more extreme then they would grasp.
No, there is no evidence of purpose in the universe. Let's switch that around. A universe with purpose is just another way of saying that there is a God. But, but, I hold that there are two kinds of purpose. The meaning of 'purpose' just used is like goal or end in mind. The other sense of 'purpose' is functional. It asks the question What does it do? In this sense a few things come to mind. The purpose of the universe is to move from a low entropy state to a high entropy state. Maybe I am wrong but I take that to mean from high potential energy state to a low one. A second purpose of the universe, as judges by what it does, is the basis for life. This is conversation of structure, chemical structure found in DNA. Still another can be stated as the purpose of life is to hydrolyzed carbon dioxide. There must be many more. All of these purposes are explicit, but none are of a human scale or of direct human interest.
I have a very simple argument against religion. I assert that all religions, and for that matter all gods, are described only by humans. I know of no origin of any religion or claim of existence of any god that is not entirely human. So, my lack of belief in religions or in gods has nothing to do with any deity or supernatural phenomenon, but is based purely in my lack of belief in humans. Humans lie, most of the time. Especially when they want to control your actions or beliefs. I assert that all the religions I have heard of are nothing more than human lies, and I have seen no reason to doubt this assertion.
Stated differently, if someone were to ask me "Do you believe in god?" my answer would be that this is an invalid question. The correct question in my opinion is "Do you believe humans telling you about god?" and my answer to that question is "of course not". Athiests believe in the non-existence of gods, I am not an athiest, I don't really have an opinion on gods. I just don't believe humans.

I have a few things to say. First of all, if you want religion, don't look for it in 'western' civilization. Don't look for it in western Europe and her colonies. The west does not understand religion.
Look to the east. Look to the older civilizations. Look to the Christianity of the Greeks.
Second, from the point of view of a modern skeptic, start with Plato, Lao-tzu, Chuang-tzu and the Buddhists.
Third, science does not explain everything. Why does the universe exist at all? More important for our purpose, what about our emotional life? Science denies the emotions. Simply because it cannot explain them, and cannot rule them and influence them, science denies the emotions. Science also denies any meaning in life. We are just machines, nothing more.
Plato does not deny meaning. Plato does not deny the emotions. Lao-tzu and The Buddha do not deny these things. The Book of Psalms and the Koran does not deny these things.
Religion in its true form, which does not exist in the west, does not rely on authority. In true religion, you believe in The Bible and the Koran because they say great things that speak to you and explain things in the world that science cannot- like the fact that the Universe exists at all.
Do not look to religion in the west. The west is young and ignorant. The west does not know better.
And remember- God loves you, and anyone that tells you to fear God does not know the truth!
Start with looking for meaning in life. Leave the answer to why there is pain in the world for later, because this is the most difficult question in philosophy. It is not a question for beginners. Worry about meaning and look for life first.

When I look at a starry sky and I have in mind the theories of astrophysicists, when I look at nature with the eye of evolutionists, when I observe human beings with the glasses of a neuropsychologist… no religion can compete with the wonder I feel, none has so much fascination to offer me, none can satisfy so much my thirst for understanding. Basically, religions are fundamentally simplistic and horribly trivial… but this is normal in hindsight: they are a stage in human history, as adolescence is in the history of each person. On condition that you get out of it and become an adult 😉

I feel sorry about the indoctrinated Muslims in prosperious countries who got the wrong interpretation of Islam that seems so logical and true to them while living in a society of extremely rational and reasonable people who are trying to convince them that life is all there is, and that there's no afterlife. Yet they still think they're the chosen ones and are trying to tell people atheïst are "deluded" and "misguided" for just not believing in their specific God who's kinda the same as the Christian God. I'm happy I'm an ex-muslim atheist who tries his best to spread positivity and compassion in the world while making progress in the human race. Not because I want to gather points for my afterlife which I don't believe in, not because of fear of eternal torture. But because it desires my heart seeing people happy! ♥♥

Yes however I saw what these guys like Dawkins and Krauss were saying but then realized they were wrong when he said there is no purpose to the universe. That's no longer true a purpose has been proven. I then got onto something else. Its called the CTMU its a true theory of everything that's scientific and also metaphysical based on pure logic that proves there is a purpose to the universe. The guy who developed and discovered this thing is called Chris Langan. He originally became famous for scoring the world record highest IQ estimated at 210. We then found out he has a theory of everything. He can also mathematically prove the existence of God the soul and the afterlife and many other things. He has used and developed logic to gain access to the mind of God. We can now know anything that is knowable with this theory. And the debate is settled now we know there is a God he's proven it and most people don't know who he is and this message has to get out there. Believe me I was were all you guys were right when I got onto this I've thoroughly investigated it and he's for real and it is the truth and he can prove it. And if you think about it now is the right time its about time. Ethier there is a God or isn't and if there is he should be able to prove his existence to mankind at some point and he likes to do that through people and used Chris Langan to do that as he's God's messenger for the human race and has the true message of God to save us he's super enlightened and has this knowledge and his theory shows there is such a thing as destiny and it was his destiny to discover this and God gave him this knowledge.

I use to be a firm Christian believer. I went through a 2 year period where I finally started rationalizing my beliefs and all things related. I now feel like I was hypnotized for most of my life and I now view life completely different. It’s wonderful. I honestly can’t believe that religion has made it this far. It’s a very silly, ancient, contradicting, hypocritical, petty, and unintelligent wishful thinking for people who lived during a tough period for humanity. I’m grateful to have lived during current times.

It was a beautiful day in the mushroom kingdom. The morning sun painted the sky stunning hues of blue and gold. Luigi woke first and got out the map thinking to himself, “If we take the short cut to Yoshi’s Island maybe we can skip Boo’s Haunted mansion.” While the sun was busy making its relentless ascent, Luigi decided to wake his companion up. “Rise and shine Jump Man! We better be on our way before the little guy finds us.
Mario sat up, the fog still dissipating from his mind. “Uuugh… breakfast?” was all he could mutter.
“No… not yet,” replied his brother in an anxious tone. “We still need to put some miles between us and that fortress. Remember the trackers we saw last night? If we dilly dally longer than need be, BJ is sure to find us. Once we get to the shore, we’ll have a bite.” With that, Luigi promptly began to roll up his pack.
“Oh Jr. isn’t gonna find us… not after we doubled back through cheap-cheap river. He’s still new at the ‘evil villian’ thing. His dad’s no joke, but I’d be shocked if… dang it…” Mario’s voice trailed off at the faint sound of propellers steadily growing louder.
“You were saying?” Luigi muttered as they both spotted the dim silhouette of Bowser Jr.’s flying apparatus growing bigger against the rising sun. Mario snapped out of his trance and forced his pack to engulf his scattered belongings. But before the brothers could make a break for it, the heard a tremendous POP! Instinctively, Mario tackled his brother and both fell behind a nearby boulder. Each one brace himself for the impact of the cannon fire. But it never came. Instead, the popping noise became more aggravated. Peeking his head round the boulder, Mario saw that Jr’s airship was smoking. He was going to crash.
“Keep her steady!” screeched Jr from the deck of the ship. “I’m trying sir,” said the koopa.“But the props aren’t functioning right… LOOK OUT!” The ship grazed a tree. The tree snapped a propeller off. And the whole ship came to an ugly stop inches from the brothers’ boulder.
“Well, well, well!” exclaimed Luigi. “Is your daddy having a hard time keeping the lights on? Not enough coins to hire good mechanics these days?”
Jr. was furious: “Watch your mouth you deadbeat plumber. I don’t need this ship to fight you and your no-good…”
Mario yawned… “I want breakfast. Before there’s any fighting, I need a little something.” He rummaged through his pack and found a nice, shiny… “Mushroom, OH thank Shigeru Miyamoto, this looks delicious!”
Jr.’s scowl erupted into laughter, “Shigeru Miyamoto! Oh that’s a good one. Precious, just precious that you cute little things would say a thing like that. Absolutely darling!”
The brothers looked at each other with bewilderment written across their mustaches. “I don’t follow,” said Luigi, “What’s so funny?”
“Com’on man,” wheezed Jr. still trying to contain his laughter. “Shigeru Miyamoto isn’t real. He’s just a story grandmas tell their little toadlets in order to explain things they can’t understand. The magic of the fire flower, the speed of the warp pipe, and even the power of the stars are all things old women can’t understand. So… they just make up a story to explain it away. It’s really kind of sad if you think about it.”
At the mention of the fire flower, Mario noticed a patch of them growing nearby. With years of history between them, he gave Luigi a look that suggested, “Keep him talking.”
Clearing his throat, Luigi said, “Wait, wait, wait, if Miyamoto didn’t make the warp-pipes or the shy-guys then who did? It didn’t just all come from nowhere now did it?”
“Ah… the first semi-intelligent things you said so far tall one,” mocked Jr. “It did come from nowhere. There’s no designers or developers. There’s not really any rhyme or reason to anything. Back at our research facility, we’ve just recently discovered the secret to this entire reality… something that has been kept from our eyes from the very beginning! Do you know what it is? Do you know what makes the Koopa fly and the Yoshi run? Do you know why some platforms hang in the sky while others fall the moment you set foot on them? Well I’ll tell you… the reason all these things happen can simply be explained by code.”
“Sorry boss,” said Luigi trying to keep Jr.’s attention. “You’re gonna have to explain this for those of us who haven’t been to your labs yet. What do you mean by code?” Mario was closing in on the flowers.
“Everything… literally everything runs on code,” said Jr. completely oblivious to Mario’s plan. We’ve got a lot more work to do in terms of parsing out the whole logic. But early research is yielding fascinating results. In layman’s terms, there are billions of 1s and 0s baked into the fabric of reality. Depending on how these numbers are arranged, different commands can be given to entities in the world. One can make coins fall out of bricks as bullet-bills fly through the sky. Someday, my dad will be able to alter this code and transform the entire world!”
“Welp, I’m in no position to disagree with you about the science,” said Luigi throwing up his hands in a feigned show of defeat. “It sounds like y’all have done your homework. I still don’t see why any of that excludes Miyamoto as the maker of this world. Couldn’t he have written the code? His name, along with a tone of other people, is at the end of each game in the credits. Seems to me like…”
“Ah yes the credits,” interrupted Jr. “Still not entirely sure what to do with those. However, the research does show that those are made up of code too. My tentative theory is that there’s some algorism which generates the names along with their associated roles. It could also be the natural consequence of the code being embedded into reality. Notice how the credits change with each new game? My guess is that there’s some link between the nature of the credits and the logic of the code.”
“But, but… what about all the intentionality in this world,” exclaimed Luigi. “There’s always a clear path, power ups, heck there’s even hints when we get stuck or lost. It seems like it’d take more faith to believe that all this impeccable level design is the product of mere accident.”
“That’s easy for you to say,” Jr. said bitterly. “You and your brother get to have all the fun… practically everything is handed to you on a silver platter. From your perspective, this world was intentionally crafted for you to progress through and overcome obstacles. But look at the goombas, those poor souls are doomed to walk in circles till one of you smashes the things brains out. It’s a pretty rotten world if you ask me.”
Up to this point, the whole conversation was rather intriguing to Mario, which is probably why he held off blasting Jr. with the flower now firmly in his hand. At this though, hot indignation arose in his mind. Jr. had no idea what it was like to constantly chase the princess from one world to another… to fall over and over at the same jump and still press on. Even though he wanted to let the sparks fly, he was still curious as to how Luigi might respond.
“To be honest,” said the man in green. “It sounds like you just don’t like the idea of having a maker. While the stuff you said about the goomba does make me think twice, it doesn’t really have any bearing on whether or not someone made it that way. It just means you don’t like it. Maybe Miyamoto is trying to accomplish some greater good through the goomba. It’s like you said earlier about the code… maybe we just haven’t figured it out yet.”
“Fine!” growled Jr. “Let’s test your theory. Say hello to Miyamoto for me… fire the cannons!”
At this, several port holes fell open with angry bullet-bills in them. Luigi shot a look of panic at Mario who threw two fire balls to try to short circuit the first missiles racing toward the boulder. Jr. barked orders, the brother scrambled to get away, and…
“Dinner is ready!” yelled mom from upstairs.
“Coming!” said Sally as she reluctantly paused the game and ascended from the basement.

Knowledge of evolution shows us that we are part of this great big family that is life. It does more to respect all creatures great and small than religion does, which teaches that humans and nature are separate things.
Long long ago, I did away with any and all religious thinking which I consider to be superstitious thinking. I jokingly refer to religion as voodoo, but I have learned to keep my opinions to myself since not everyone feels the way I do. Thanks for the video!
