2024 was a solid year for gaming. We saw releases of incredible games like Helldivers 2, Marvel Rivals, Space Marine 2, Black Myth: Wukong and many others! But it was also a year for big stinkers like Concord, Dragon Age the Veilguard and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

  3. This comment probably wont get any traction, but you did kinda snub The Final Shape. Just talking about all the awful stuff with bungie instead of at least hitting on the fact that it was an objectively GOOD, if not NARRATIVELY GREAT expansion, for a variety of reasons that people more educated than me have already touched on. We D2 guys don't get a lot of positive press these days, thus it was a bit of a kick in the balls to just glaze over the ending to the 10 year ride we all went on.

  7. Ugh Starfield, the annoying thing about that game is that the non-random areas were actually really fun for me. I loved a few of the missions and areas, and when you get to a story that has a DESIGNED story area, like the Iced over City for the Xeno-whatever missions, that place was great! The one section where you pull a Titanfall2 and go between timelines, also amazing.

    Its like, the bland open world RNG planets sucked ass, but the curated, hand made areas were awesome.

    Think they kinda just spent too much time on said boring RNG planets, where if they spent more time on the hand made areas the game would have been really good, like their past titles.

  11. hellblade 2 had one of the best art directed sequences that i played last year. it would have been the best, but i also played alan wake 2 and we all know what sequence i'm talking about.

  20. Indiana Jones was absolutely everything a video game should be. Great platforming segments, puzzles, action, story. It was faithful to the characters, and honestly what a huge surprise coming from bethesda. I could tell the dungeon designers from the elder scrolls and mainly the dishonored team cooked with this game. Phenomenal, also, screw the first person camera haters this game could only work with that perspective.

  21. Would love for Sony to send some titles back to XBox. Microsoft are just giving everything away.
    “Ooooo, get a Game Pass, day one releases”.
    “But they are all shit”
    “Yeah, but you’ll be the first to find out how shit they are”
    Game Pass is like Netflix. Yeah, you have 50 films and television shows coming out in the next month. I’ll probably not give a shit about any of them.

  30. I was still playing Helldivers 2 back before Escalation of Freedom but after the Creek when 5k Helldivers was the norm. I loved how I never spent a single cent(my uncle gifted me the game on steam) on this game yet I have 2 premium warbonds just from collecting Super Credits, AH studios made a game where F2Ps like me can be on par with P2Ps and I love them for it.

  31. Best game: Helldivers 2

    Never have i had a game just completely envelope my entire being like this… not since fallout New vegas have i been itching to get home and play some more.

    Worst game: Not the worst game i know, but i was immensely disappointed in space marine 2, the campaign was great but has little to no repayable attributes and the coop is not only short (8 missions) but its also insanely limiting (wanna have three guys with heavy weapons? Well you cant because f**k you thats why), the weapons are all very weak feelings and samey, I had an entire weekend to enjoy Space marine 2 and before the work week even showed up i was already done with the game and back on helldivers 2.

    Maybe comparison is truly the thief of joy but honestly having to start my space marine all over again because a friend used the same class stole a lot of joy as well.

    Heres hoping for a new year with more great games and less layoffs!

  32. Metaphor ReFantazio is a fantastic game. I still haven’t finished it so I can’t say wether it should’ve won GotY or not… but it should at least be mentioned as another great game in the year of 24

  35. XDefiant shutting down is really bad for the industry and is far from a good thing for competition in the industry. I only played the beta and I will be honest it didn’t wow me. Even tho it wasn’t for me, RIP game. You gave it a good try. I wish the best for the devs.

If anyone makes chess 2… With the pieces having awesome combat animations (where they actually fight for a bit) and random fucky abilities like jokers in Balatro.. add some epic ramping up music (as there are less and less pieces left) and you have your self a fucking game! have multiple skins for the pieces, the boards, surrounding environments.
