Could we get a video about using water-based abilities? I know that that's probably not the easiest thing in the world to do but it would be really cool!
Hey Colby, I'm rolling a new character in our campaign and it will be a level 8 7/1 Oath Of Conquest/ Undead Patron ~ Astral Elf. I love the idea of being able to teleport up to 30 feet as a bonus action and really put that terrifying presence to use, how would you do it?
Boost
Was looking back at an old video as a possible build inspiration… and noticed that back in the older videos he spoke a little differently… He's leaning into his sexy voice a bit more… wonder if it's because we've been stroking his ego about it 😛 Not that I'm complaining… makes it even more fun to listen to when going back to the video to clear up something on the breakdowns 🙂 hehe…
For your rogue 8 and 10 feats, I love savage attacker, and possibly grappler. My dm let me reroll sneak attack damage with savage attacker, and grappler gives you advantage without using reckless attack. As a raging rogue, you can have expertise and advantage on your grapple checks so it's close to guaranteed.
I'm in the min 15 of the video, and I just realice where are you going… you dirty, dirty Colby. I like it.
I’d go martial adept to pick up the riposte maneuver.
I love the bizlurker builds!!!!
Didn't read any comments, but it occurs to me going battlemaster you'd have action surge as a fighter; could you not use the attack action, action surge then take the readied action as planned? It's not amazing, but at least useable for a bit of a bump in damage once.
Another way to get an attack on you turn and a second one on an opponent's turn would be to take 5 levels in wizard/sorc and cast haste on yourself. In this way you can have 2 attack actions instead of 1 and your bonus action is free for cunning action and other stuff.
With an extra level in wizard (bladesinger) you get extra attack to use in your turn.
The problem is that this would be a better build without multiclassing in rogue at any time… Cause bladesingers are op…
I dont ban lucky…however due to my smartass friends ALL taking it in a campaign and using it to bully me… only one character is allowed it per campaign
Want to recover 2 levels of exhaustion in one short rest? If you drink a dose of Olisuba tea during a long rest, your exhaustion level is reduced by 2 instead of 1 at the end of that long rest.
This is reminding me of a PF1 rogue option called the skulking slayer where an orc/half orc can sneak attack with 2h weapons and use larger sneak attack dice.
There are so many things you can tweak and change in this build, it's really cool!
The battlemaster version of this build can definitely be interesting…
Cause there's so much you can play with with dexterity, like being an elf, getting elven accuracy, taking one level into hexblade lock, and suddenly you're a crit fishing rogue that can sneak attack twice per round that, when out if maneuvers, can make great use of extra attack and two weapon fighting
You have a decently high chance to crit when rolling 9 die a turn with a crit threshold of 19 and 20
With elven accuracy you can even wait on your sneak attack till you crit or till you do your last attack for turn
So no matter what your dps is sustainable
Please optimize Battlerager Barbarian.
Well that sorcerer idea isn’t bad because spellslots are also sorcery points, makes the action economy kinda rough with converting costing a bonus action but if you’re not a blaster it seems very sustainable.
intelligence based rogue, Use medicine check for Surgery, to hamstring people to make debilitating strikes, and cause later disadvantages to attacks. instead of extra damage
One thing you touched is sorc's quickened spell but you didn't take it far enough. granted it does take a 5 level sorc investment but the route to go is to quicken haste. use your haste action to make your sneak attack and use your normal action to ready an off-turn sneak attack. on a ranged build this works very well as it'll be hard to break that haste when you're kiting.
props on the phantom pick. imo it's quite underrated and imo is the best rogue at 9+ or the best main class rogue.
This build gets a little hand wave-y for important considerations, and I feel like it sacrifices a lot just to get an extra sneak attack out with a reaction. It also sacrifices like… ALL the rogues defensive options at lower levels just to get a second sneak attack.
I have been playing a PHB only game so I picked a gnomish barb2/rogueX, and like it a lot for its defensive options(adv on basically all dex, int, wis, cha saving throws, high ac, rage, uncanny, evasion, prof in con and wis saves kuz I took resilient wis), esp at low levels. I'm only losing a single d6 for sneak attacks but getting basically all of the barbarian defense options added to my rogue, plus reckless of course.
I do like some of the team up builds made on this channel, but I dont think his is a vey good build.
You have to lower these numbers by 1d8 as extra attack does not apply on held attack actions, see the extra attack wording, also it is fairly inaccurate to say that this build would have advantage on the reaction attack
How do I get the build lay out I just payed for a subscription?
I absolutely love this.
My version of the story for him is that he's an ex soldier who swears "I do not have spell-shock!" I imagine war in these words having hedge wizards casting fire balls and other hectic spells everywhere. For a standard soldier it's hell, just like real war.
So his rage is a PTSD episode, which is why it can cause exaction. After the battle he's coming back to reality. Additionally I would have the death stuff from the Phantom Rogue as the soles of people he killed and friends he lost in battle.
I think the roleplay for this character would be amazing and the arch could be awesome

I thought this was an interesting test.
Hi Colby. Love your stuff. I have used some of your builds, or close variations, to great affect.
Could you please do a Gunslinger build? Critical role did publish it *and* dnd beyond has it available for free.
Please and thank you.
I suggest the new bugbear… but you do what you think is best.
I just built a character using the dungeon coach’s psion class and it’s looks so fun I’m playing it tomorrow in a one shot and I can’t wait I haven’t played in a while. For others who have that psion class I’m playing a arcane trickster 4 order of the hidden hands 6 41 average dmg on all attacks hitting
There is an unofficial setting for dnd, called “fateforge” or “dragon” (the French version) which has a feat with which you can ignore 1st level of exhaustion.
It’s a really nice setting with many modular things like madness or corruption. You definitely should check this if you want to add some stuff to vanilla dnd ❤️
