The Beatles – Now And Then (1964 Version) [AI]

NEW video showing how I made this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnEWq1EmrCk

This recording contains no samples of other recordings. The music and vocals were performed and recorded by a real live human, and then the lead vocals I sang were then run through A.I. filters to replicate the tones of Paul, John, and George’s voices.

After hearing the final Beatles song “Now And Then” last week, I was immediately inspired to record a cover, specifically taking inspiration from the Hard Day’s Night era. I released my version the next day. Over the weekend though, curiosity got the best of me, and I wondered what my 1960s arrangement would sound like with John and Paul’s voices.

The A.I. at first was a little wonky (at best), but after trying a few more fresh vocal takes doing my best Paul, John and George impersonations, adding some more musical parts, and giving the whole song a more authentic mid-60s mix, I had something that I thought was worth sharing.

I know A.I. can be a controversial topic, but I tried to stay as true as possible to what John, Paul, and George would sound like if John brought this song to the band a decade earlier. Hopefully you enjoy this for what it is, a fun little “what if” companion piece to the beautiful haunting version The Beatles released last week.

Long Live The Beatles!

*** UPDATE 11/9/23 ***

By request, I just finished and uploaded a new video of A.I. Liam and Noel Gallagher sharing vocal duties on a vintage Oasis style version of “Now And Then”…

I also just posted my “1964 Beatles Mix” with my own vocals on Bandcamp, if you want to check out what it sounded like before any A.I. was involved…

  1. I get it. A lot of puritans won't go for this. What they really don't get is that John was anti puritan, as can be heard in his music and philosophy.
As for the official version, I reckon Paul and Ringo didn't want to upset the puritans…… 'when did they lose the touch, that seemed to mean so much?'…. Thanks for this version, it's great.

  2. This song (your version and the one from Paul and Ringo) has been in my head ever since I first listened. I've listened/watched both numerous times. I keep having to remind myself that your NAT isn't The Beatles, but damn close. Great work on this, along with your "how I did it" video.

  3. Wow, the Hard Day's Night version of Now and Then. Perfect….you out-Beatled The Beatles! I love all the quotes from Beatles songs, particularly the "tit-tit-tit" background vocals (from Girl), the Hard Day's Night bongos, the Ticket To Ride drum pattern in the middle section and at 1:59 the Glass Onion-like drum fills. Well done!
