It is time to take you back down to the Outer banks of North Carolina. We had the opportunity to walk through a county-wide EMS service. Let me tell you that you will not be disappointed to hear how they operate and see what they have in store for the next three years. They are in the beginning stages of building or remodeling at least three stations per year. Chief Collins has her act together with a dual focus on her employees and the community in which they serve. Station 1 is their headquarters, the hub of the entire network. Station 1 houses Dare County EMS’s administration, training, supplies, and even units staffed with experts ready to respond to 911 and transport requests.
One of the most intriguing issues is their geographic location. They are located on the barrier islands of the Atlantic Ocean of North Carolina with only a critical access facility, meaning there is no specialty care services such as heart, stroke, or trauma. Don’t get me wrong they have an emergency room but for any major problems for the residents or tourists, they must transport to other facilities, about 2 hours away.
Whether you are in a 911 system or a transport system this is an outstanding place to work. They truly care about the staff and the skill sets that are needed to work in an area that is this unique.
Thank you to everyone at Dare County EMS services for the warm hospitality and for allowing the viewers from Heroes Next Door to walk through your station and see all the people behind the scenes. We can’t wait to go again and see the progress of the NEW stations as they are built.

Howdy from Currituck, the neighboring county.

21:55 Black guy sitting on the chair
Does he magically appear?
Been by this station several times while on vacation with my family. Have always wanted to stop and see what they have equipment wise.
I was here over the summer.
This chief is extremely well spoken
Thought we were going to take a look at their helicopter? Was looking forward to seeing that as well
Props to you on your interview skills. I have seen your ability to make conversations more fluid become better and better with each passing video.
Kinda weird, and good, seeing this place get national exposure. The number of hours I spent in that station is incalculable. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Epic video! You should over to South Metro Fire Rescue Centennial, Colorado, since you visited Denver. I believe it is South of Denver. SMFR has 30 stations including an Administration building and ARFF station with a lot of cools units in those 30 stations.
I kinda want to go work there
I love this station so much!! Beautiful area, and LOVE their theme. Awesome they had one of their employees make it for them.
Love the bloopers at the end!
This is awesome, 12 years ago my dad was swimming in the ocean at the outer banks and got pulled under by a riptide and drowned. Dare county EMS showed up and tried to save him, unfortunately he didn't make it, but I was able to turn a tradgedy into something good, I got my EMT at 18, then my AEMT shotly after and been working EMS (now paid fire) ever since. Thank you so much to all the EMTs, AEMTs and Medics at Dare EMS.
great video, will we be getting a what's inside for the QRV & Operations Supervisor vehicle?
Seriously love the way you shift conversations! You seem very humble and attentive when you speak. Love the bloopers also lol

At somepoint, it would be nice to see you interviewing the new 8-bay station westfield, IN fire is building once it's completed
Great to see a County EMS Service! Love working a 3rd service county system.
Its Ambulance Am bu lance. Not ambalance. Some people. 🤡🙄🤦
Love the bloopers at the end LOL. Are you going to do south metro colarado fd?
@22:29 the box that says High Cotton, that is an excellent place to eat while you are down there.
Go Catamounts!
The blooper reel at the end was a nice touch. It was pretty funny.
….always someone charting….
That is awesome! All they talk about is how to get/give employees the best they can, to get the job done! And how to set everything up to give patients what they need. That is the mindset of a real (badass) Chef …
