I don't love the way this was written. To paint him as some meticulous perfectionist who was just driven to his limit and only did what people forced him to do? No, he was a selfish, narcissistic POS who murdered his wife (spousal abuse? Not surprised), killed his livestock brutally (animal abuse? Strike two), and murdered a bunch of defenceless children in a calculated act that wasn't revenge against those who had actually "wronged" him. He's a coward, and whoever wrote this should really consider how you're portraying him, because this sympathetic character arc is not it.
Disappointing.
I'm the early 2000s, when I was 17, I moved out of my parents and into a town just down the road from Bath. I had never heard about this as a kid, but it was still legend in the area. Friends in the area had family stories or childhoods with scare tales or controlling parents/school.
He did have a debilitating mental state…..he was American🤷♂️
While I do religiously watch all of Simon's basement slaves work, I can't help wondering if so psycho somewhere sees this type of thing and decides to go for a bigger record.

I really want people to stop using mental illness as excuse. These human make the choice to do evil. They believe the evil act are good. The holocaust was not mental illness, transatlantic slavery was not mental illness. These are actions taken by humans in their correct state of mind. No matter how intelligent humans become even in 50,100,1000 years, they will repeat such evil acts. Is government corruption and oppression a mental illness to?

The cuppola of the old school still stands as a memorial, i've heard. it was the only recognizable part of the school left. A man who couldn't understand why he should pay taxes to educate children who weren't his. A complete and utter self focussed, sadistic ass.

I think the most terrifying aspect of this story is the fact that the attack was carried out by a nominally trusted authority figure; someone able to bypass any protections that were placed around the school in order to insure security and safety. Today we bar random individuals from Just wondering around inside public schools, but imagine if a school employee, or in this case a school board member, decided to carry out a violent act like this…

I have Three Family Members on my Grandma Darlene Sweet McKowen side of her father’s family were involved in the Explosion at the Bath School.
My Great Grandpa Ronald Sweet had a Brother and Sister named Dean Sweet and Ava Sweet Nelson who were both 6th Grade were injured in the explosion and both of them survived. My Great Grandpa Ronald also has a nephew from his older sister who lost her son in the explosion. His name is Lavere Robert Harte who was in 4th grade and was only 9 years old when he was killed in the school explosion. My Grandma Darlene has another uncle and my great grandpas brother who was 18 was at the scene at the school but didn’t graduate happened to be with his parents and when two Michigan state troopers found the unexploded dynamite in the south wing of the building they couldn’t crawl down so they ask my Grandmas Uncle who was short enough and he helped the state troopers and he crawled and carried one dynamite stick at a time so the Michigan State troopers can disarmed them outside and put them in buckets.
The part about my Great Great Uncle has been a forgotten part of the Bath School story. I thought I share my family stories from this Tragedy.
My Great Grandpa Ronald’s sister Florence lived about 2 blocks from where Kehoe lived and they are neighbors. Florence’s husband Lavere Harte who his parents lived across the road by Kehoe’s and Kehoe shot and killed there dog in March of 1920 according to one of the Bath School Books I’ve read.

I work in a funeral home in the area and we still have records in our funeral registry of some of the victims. it's actually how I learned about it, I was going through it and saw lots of children who "died when school in bath was dynamited." it's horrible to think about.
Makes me glad I don't live in a Third World country such as America, imagine being a kid and going to school each day wondering if it'll be your last day alive!

Holy crap I forgot about this school bombing and was mixing it up with another one from decades ago where the bomb was placed in a classroom and I think like, the teacher had to hold wires on it or something? But the accelerant that was used was leaking out and by the time it went off, the explosion had (thankfully) weakened and no one was killed. Anyone know which event I’m referring to?
You should do a Criminalist about the 1964 Civil Rights Murders. I say Criminalist because i want to comiserate with you about how infuriating that event is.
