Such a backhanded sneaky attack that failed to achieve it's ultimate goal. Their ultimate goal was to sink our aircraft carriers, but they weren't in port that day. We all know how the Japanese faired during WWII, so there's no need to discuss that. We sank nearly every last one of their carriers, along with the world's largest battleships Musashi and Yamato. The war in the Pacific was a costly and deadly war. The Japanese never quit though, the samurai fighting spirit stuck with them until there was no hope for victory.

Japan was working on short term goals with this attack, witch is ironic considering both the consequences and them wanting an empire in general. Also Kazou Sakamaki, the only pow from the attack, became a devoted pacifist after the war upon learning of the sheer horrors of the conflict. He was reunited with his miniature submarine later in life witch had been salvaged and became a museum display. The bravery of the crews who struggled to save their ships is palpable, especially those well below decks.
