I tried reading Judge Dredd a couple of times but it's just not for me. I find the setting really interesting but the characters are just kinda there in my opinion. So those lore videos are hitting just the spot.

This……sounds like a universe-breaking story. The kind where you never go back to the status quo. At least not without a deux-ex-machina magical reboot. Nuking half the city, flood-wrecking the rest, killing huge amounts of Judges and command structure….Unless every Judge Dredd story going forward deals with the fallout of this event (figuratively, as well as literally dealing with the nuclear fallout within the city limits)….well, then it will feel like a fake event, even by the loose standards of comic book stories.
Also, most of that art just made me sad. Clearly, Judge Dredd comics are not for me…
I was very into Judge Dredd as a kid. When the Stallone movie came out in 1995 there was a child friendly tie in comic called Judge Dredd: Lawman of the Future. That allowed me to discover 2000ad. Mind blown, I still have piles of copies in my attic at home.
