Quite an enjoyable festivus 😁
I'd really like to see a 50-400 review. It's one im considering to pair with a Z camera for a tiger safari in India next year.
I have the Panasonic GX85 in my car and am looking for something with the same footprint to upgrade to. I would love to see it updated with the sensor and autofocus the Panasonic G9 II has but it absolutely has to have an EVF and stabilization. I tend to use my Fuji X-T5, G9 II or Z8 more often because 16 mp is not quiet enough. Panasonic or OM SYSTEM please grant me my holiday wish!
My grievance is about not being able to edit my Olympus RAW ORF files on my Android phone. Snapseed doesn't support them, and the Olympus app doesn't support RAW editing either.
It would be so nice to edit when I'm out in the field (mostly wildlife) before sharing on social media.
Dear Chris, you are not the market for all cameras. Recognising that would go a long way to improving the quality of your analysis. If you wanted another step, spend some time understanding how cameras really work under the covers – code, heat, power, processor, interfaces and sensor. Alternatively, avoid prognosticating on subjects you have little insight into. Thank you!
CHRIS! GLOVES! OK, I have zero experience with the COLD here in Australia, but my daily gloves for shooting I use are just fingerless gym/weight training gloves. Keep the tactility in your fingers for cameras and keep the rest of your hands from being exposed!
Starting my day off with this podcast was the absolute best idea ever. I'm in a great mood now. LMAOOOOO
The monsters one was so fun!! Please keep this for next year!
monster
I would venture to bet the EVF discussion is probably split pretty evenly between pro- or semi-pro photographers on one side and casual consumer shooters on the other. If a company comes out with an $800 point and shoot style camera, I just don't think that's going to be aimed at people like Chris who have certain expectations when it comes to features for a "good" camera. Does a teenager care about the EVF? Very much doubt it.
Also, the type of camera and content you're shooting I think influences whether you use it or not. For example, I shoot with an EVF religiously on my A7RV. As nice as the articulating flippy screen is, I don't think I've looked it more than a handful of times. But when I'm shooting on my X100VI, it's the exact opposite. I only use the back screen and hardly ever bother with the EVF. I don't really know why. Maybe its the way the film sims show up better on the screen or just being able to maneuver the camera better when it's not attached to my face? Regardless, it wouldn't have really bothered me if they kept the EVF off the Fuji completely (except maybe because it would've diminished some of the classic aesthetics of the X100VI). Very curious to see what companies decide to include going forward.
You know guys, you are just you whenever I listen to your podcast. Your grievances, complains, annoyances are very well received as long as they are genuinely yours. So, keep it going, here is to another year!. Merry Christmas!
Oh yes Pentax 👍 😊
If you don't do the monster tracker again next year, all three of you are absolute monsters. No question.
In keeping with the Seinfeld theme, to the people complaining about someone's look or hairstyle or calling someone a fanboy, "No soup for you, next!" you monsters.
Monster segment is hilarious, bring it back!
Next, the PetaPixel Podcast will be sponsored exclusively by Monster energy drinks.
My eyes aren’t so good anymore, so a great EVF is a necessity for me. I have yet to see a lcd panel that doesn’t suck in the sun.
keep the monster !!!
You guys are monsters for making me leave a comment in order to get this segment to get next year again
It makes sense that the X-M5 has no EVF, but I hope Fuji also revives the X-E with similar specs to the X-M5 but keeping the EVF, and just (maybe) only $100 USD more expensive.
Happy holidays guys!
Thanks! I think you should do the monster reviews again. If not, then you really are monsters. Jarron, you should wear a different hat for each episode just to prank the viewers at least for a little while.
Chris feel better soon and everything else at PETA Pixel stay healthy.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Moster is a thing now, keep the tally going into next year!
I wouldn't eat sushi in Canada… come on guys. Only in Japan or Hawaii where it's fresh. Be careful of cheap sushi. Cheap for a reason. Like a TTArtisan lens, it ain't what its supposed to be.
Woulda been better on a smartphone. Monster, monster, monster. Keep it going. Just sayin'. 😉
Love the Festivus airing of grievances
Liked the monster segment on a smart phone
Adobe DNGs are one of the worst things to happen to photography; what we need is an open RAW standard that isn't controlled by one company.
Making us comment to keep a segment going for next year! you MONSTERS
Is that the same aluminium pole that broke into the camera store?
Portland: just drink more beer . then you don't need more dense clothing
It’s better on a cell phone you monsters
Chris, I think you went totally off the rails with your idea of a mirrorless TLR. It is of course not possible to build a Reflex camera without a mirror. So I think this idea is ridiculous and stupid. I think you are a monster for suggesting it. Does this mean I am a monster?
Glove question: Vallerret photography gloves. Love em. I live in Canada and shoot in both civilization and North Ontario
Happy Chris Mas
Thanks for the podcast all year guys, it's been awesome. I only have one v important question about today's episode: where on earth did Jaron find such a massive santa hat??
More of monster or not yes please
Don't loose that segments, you monsters.!
Episode 100 — Live taping somewhere in Atlanta with KEH!
