  1. Salaam Remi is a god the way he was able to flip that Apache sample for Amy and for Nas (made you look).. both being absolute smashes is so dope to me..the saxophone outro on in my bed always sends me to another realm..just gorgeous..both songs are amazing..he doesn’t get enough props as a producer and has been responsible for so many iconic songs

  2. I am so blessed that I got to see Amy perform live 3 times here in NYC before alll the drinking and stuff got out of hand..the first time was at Joes Pub..it was a music industry only showcase (I worked in radio back then) and it was her first time in the states..she did a short set like 15 mins..this was when “you know I’m no good” first dropped and had the remix w Ghostface Killah and one w Jayz..she sounded amazing..I saw her at the high line ballroom and I believe she performed You Sent me flying or Know You Now..I forget which one but it was iconic…I wish I could’ve seen her perform “In my bed” I think I would’ve cried..I still have my stub from Joes Pub as a memory..her death hurt ..her music got me thru some situations..I wish she was here now..I know she would’ve done some amazing things

  3. I didn’t know she wasn’t happy with Frank. It’s a much, much, much superior album to Back to Black. I was obsessed with that album when it came out but I lost interest in Amy when Back to Black dropped because I didn’t like that album at all… as it turned out, BTB ended up blowing her into the stratosphere and I didn’t pay much attention to Amy after that.

  4. I will always prefer Frank to Back To Black. Probably because B2B has so much sadness in it… its very good but I just prefer Frank.
As a teenager, I roamed all the cd shops trying to get it.

  5. It’s funny that this video was posted because I just discovered this album and it’s one of my most played albums this year so far. I think it’s better than Back To Black and I’m going to get the vinyl for it one day. I was surprised to find out Amy wasn’t a fan of her debut. In My Bed and Take The Box are two of her best songs, period.

  6. I'd say it was a mix of a variety of situations. There was all the things you said in the video, but also the fact that, from the moment she met Blake, she let him influence her completely and almost became another person. She was craving for affection and would do everything to earn it. So maybe people around her (like Blake) didn't appreciate her Frank era, bashed it, she took it as the absolute truth and tried to walk away from it.

  7. She didn't disown it, she was just unhappy about some decisions, like putting strings on songs she didn't want, the album not being released in America and overall management. By 2007, she was pretty happy to keep singing Frank songs and seemed the most comfortable singing them too.

  8. Frank is actually my favorite album of hers. It shows Amy’s cheeky humor, her romantic side, the depth of her musical influences, the light and airy side of her personality, etc. I wish we could’ve gotten another album from her that showed that light side of her soul, but she gave us so much in such a short amount of time. I love how Amy was such a true artist and took such pride in her work. We didn’t deserve her 🩷
