The murder trial of former Fort Worth police officer Aaron Dean continues Monday. The trial started last week with opening statements from prosecutors and the defense. The jury also heard testimony from Atatiana Jefferson’s nephew, Zion Carr. Here’s our live coverage of the case.

Semantics and word wizardry. He was startled by Atatiana and shot. Was relieved a gun was there, justifying the negligence.
For all the excruciating details about police procedure, there’s very little discussion of how to proceed when there may be innocent civilians inside an open door call.
It seems like that wasn’t even a consideration, even though they were approaching a residence in the middle of the night with two cars parked in the drive.
I get that a lot of their procedures are for officer safety — which makes sense and is appropriate of course — but where are the procedures for protecting everyone else?
And where the heck are all the stand your ground/no retreat agitators?
What stuck out to me was he said and I quote who brings a child to a, burglary which meant Aaron Dean didn't believe neither Jefferson Zion live there because they're black because why else would you have that mindset he didn't see a silhouette he saw a black woman with a gun
He could have checked every house up and down the street with bad police work, but he reacted to the gun in that window as a deadly threat reasonably.
He should gave himself a D.
I can't wait until closing…I know the state is going to bring up the fact that he didn't change his grade….how many times he gave himself a B, and that he did a "fine" job
We all have SOP’s to follow, I get that. But there is also something called CRITICAL THINKING. This ex officer murdered that woman. She did nothing wrong and should not be blamed for LAWFULLY executing her 2nd amendment right. Sad story. Hopefully the jury votes in favor of the prosecution; time shall tell.

He thinks he's getting that Guyger treatment. He is sadly mistaken. He is going down. Not one procedure was textbook. The police can't even protect him. We literally heard the death rattle of her last breaths. He even lied about administering CPR or any life saving procedures. HE FULL ON LIED IN FRONT OF HER FAMILY, AMERICA, THE JURY AND THE JUDGE!!!!!!
What sealed a guilty verdit for me was when Dean was demonstrating how she was bent over perpendicular to him, that matches the path the bullet took per the medical examiner and he said while in that position, he could never see her hands. If you try to get in that same position, it doesn't make sense to me that she was a threat to him. I think she spooked him when she peeked out the window and he shot her.

If You were to use his logic and Rationale The Police can and would be killing people on a everyday basis, He said When you are Dispatched to a open dwelling call You are not expected /required to Make contact with anybody on Scene , Enter anybodies property go in their backyard unannounced , and if someone peeks out it’s a immediate threat His training told him to aim his weapon still not identify you are the Police and shoot bc not seeing hands is what can get you killed… That’s what I got from the cops testimony .. I may be wrong .. That’s what I heard him say during his testimony … It’s obvious he never saw a weapon in her hand , He never mentioned to his partner that he did .. it’s obvious he didn’t think a robbery was taking place , He’s trying to paint the picture of a highly stressful situation and while in that situation he did what his training taught him and he’s standing on that.. The reality of the situation is He didn’t properly use his training in the correct situation and as a result a innocent Woman lost her Life, The neighborhood he was in told him that it’s highly probable he’s dealing with a person of color and great care and concern isn’t mandatory if something goes wrong he can and will explain it away , I’m sure had he been in a predominantly White Neighborhood he would have approached this situation with a different mindset one of preservation of life at all cost.. His application of his Training is a issue , He’s not proficient enough with the laws and protocols necessary to be on his own just yet, This was a bad call from the jump , Him going to the Wrong Street/ house is a big indicator of that .. Bc he answered this call The results of it is bc he was involved .. Had this been a more proficient officer The outcome would be totally different …ijs…
