The 790 Adventure Let me Down (Honda To The Rescue!)

CRF 250L | The plan was to ride my 2020 KTM 790 Adventure R to the Palmetto ADV Rally. Unfortunately, the universe saw I was counting on a KTM and decided to laugh at me! Fortunately, I had a Honda available. Though no the best Honda for a pavement ride… – Frank

  1. Interstate on a CRF286L, impressive & foolish! 🤣🤣🤣. Glad you made it safely. Tubes suck for paved travel – if you have lighter, more road biased tires you can change one more easily, but you definitely need the tools. Change that fuel tank for a 3.5 gallon one. 75 miles isn’t far. (Unless you are walking).

  2. Good job getting it done Frank. Not having tire tools is tempting Murphy for a😊 flat tire. Limited range sucks but at least you’re moving forward. With the KTM’s having a DR650 with a big tank would make a great life boat with 300 mile range.

  3. No tire tools, no problem. I know a local hillbilly towing company that would gladly bring you tools and a tube that was just a couple ridge tops over from you. 😁

  4. Hi Frank, Let me just start by saying that I really enjoy your channel… I live in the lower Hudson Valley and need to get back in the saddle after about a 15 year break (790 or 390?). Need some help understanding the Title and what video explains how the 790 let you down?

    Thanks, John

  5. Another great Video. Love watching them. If you don't mind me asking. What County do you live in here in East Tennessee? If you are close to Roane Co. We need to get-together and do some ridding sometime.

  6. I really dislike interstate riding. Having been in trucking for around 35 years and having to live around big cities I’ve seen all the traffic I care to. Glad you got through it quickly. I grew up in Hendersonville and still live about 15-20 miles away. So if you’re in the area and need help or just want to get a cup of coffee, let me know. Stay safe.

  7. Dude, that is suffering. You are risk taker, tubes and no spoons….. Hate tubes! Better get that 790 going again for long trips over the summer,,,, or that "Other" adventure bike.

  8. Cool, unprepared trip on untested motorcycle. Most bikes 100+miles on tank. 300 miles, start with full tank(?) means only 2 fill ups, which is NOT many. I'll watch video to see what transpires.

  9. I live in Washington state and own a CRF300L Rally and I am 72 and I have traveled loaded down with camping gear and have never got less than 65 MPG. I think those heavy tubes are killing your gas milage. I road from Chelan Washington to Burns Oregon and held my speed at about 65 and never got gas milage that bad. That is a 407 mile trip in two days with lots of ups and downs on Highway 395 once you get into Oregon. If lighter tubes and tires don't improve your milage I would be checking to see if something in the engine is not working write.
