37-year-old Kevin Smith is charged with grand theft auto and two counts of felony kidnapping after he allegedly stole a truck with two young children inside it. The incident happened on October 10 in Hillsborough County, Florida.

it seems like a lot of people in the comment section forget the 3 things that people can do in these situations which are called "flight, fight, freeze" what these children did was probably freeze up and didn't know what to do which answers why they're calm when speaking to the officer
now the other 2 things are pretty self explanatory: flight means to run away and fight means well to fight back obviously

That is my worst nightmare. The scariest thing that can happen! But then again…don't ever put ur car and kids in a position for anything like that to happen! Idk the circumstances behind how this man got the car…I'm only assuming the dad left kids in the car while running in the store or gas station but I could b wrong. I wish they explained

I think if they hadn't caught up with this guy….at some point, the realization that he's not a friend of dad's would have set in , and they probably would have panicked. By then, " Where's my dad? Or " I want my dad " would have been asked frightfully. It seems the situation was handled before they fully grasped it.
