What a great story β€β€β€
This story is so incomplete, itβs frustrating. Canβt you do even a modicum of investigation and reporting?
Take that long for the post office to deliver this letter. A little bit too late.
They better give him a raise!
Alvin is awesome! My dad was a rural letter carrier, and he knew every single person on his route. As a kid I would ride with him and help him make change out the VW Bug's window when people bought stamps. Dad would go the extra mile, and would have gotten a kick out of Alvin's story!

Some things are meant to be, guided from above.
Yes, WWII dates back then.
Making that good money at post office huh
Awesome πβ€
Thank you for your service to both men! πΊπΈβ€
This postal carrier is clearly a man that takes pride in his job and literally goes the extra mile to complete a job.
Well done Alvin!
Very heartwarming to see the woman reconnected with such cherished family items.
I wouldn't be surprised if they find a bunch of mail in ballots, too. Im sure that won't be new worthy though.
GFY NBC peacock
Talk about going above and beyond.
MY GRANDAD SERVED IN THE A.ERICAN AIRFORCE, APPARENTLY HE WAS FROM FIJI.

What a gentleman!! A son to be proud of!
People may make jokes about lost mail by USPS however, this has happened all over the world. Love it when they are found and delivered.
Finally, something nice ππ»
God Bless America Stick together y'all from Western Kentucky πΊπ²
He would do Cliff Clavin proud
Thanks NBC! We need more stories like this! Alvin, thanks for your great service, both as a soldier and a postal worker! You also have a great voice! You might consider becoming an announcer or singer, IMHO!
Good to see that the letters weren't lost in the mail for over 80 years, and that they were delivered to a happy recipient.
Typical snail mail
When the postal service takes 81 years to deliver a package

Alvin is a real man!
Above and beyond the call .Then and now WHO RA .
So there's still hope that the birthday card with gift card that my MIL sent me 6 months ago will arrive . . . .
Thank you for your service and giving us all a little more faith in mail carriers.
Beautiful story β€
So – what did the letters say? And what became of their author? For Peteβs sake peopleβ¦.
