Tesla’s camera design for autopilot and it’s inability to see in inclement conditions such as fog, snow, complete darkness and sun glare causes NHTSA to start an investigation, however with this we will finally get to know the internals of how Tesla deals with these situations on current hardwares

After all this we will finally get to know the internals of how Tesla deals with these situations on current hardwares, but if there is no software solution are you expecting a retrofit or some form of compensation?
FSD is garbage, average 1 FSD death per month so 1 per 6K kms of drivng at highway speed (and as best i can tell the issues are at highway speed not round town speed).FSD deaths in snow, rain, fog, sun..pure garbage. Camera tech is significant design fail. for instance, front windshield camera should be at least 1 inch from windshield, and it will need radar of some sort. while Tesla tries to avoid truth (edge case) it is a specific failure in specific situations. as i state elsewhere blind people are licensed to drive, when Tesla cameras are blind they can't be licensed to drive and must shut down. I don't trust any Tesla employee, they are fanboys. it will have to a significantly updated and expanded retrofit. go NHTSA go, bring Musk to his knees, and then lets move on.
I saw your post regarding the Tesla app on apple watch coming , do you know when ???
I was driving on a UK highway a week ago using autosteer. Its started raining quite badly and gave me a strikeout for absolutely no reason. Seems like instead of admitting the cameras couldn’t see, Tesla blamed me 😂
John are you saying there are 2.4 million people (cars) that have either purchased FSD and/or are currently subscribing to it?
Yeah, tonight on the earnings call Elon said he would retrofit HW3 cars to HW4 if unsupervised FSD was not possible. Glad this is happening.
Hope we get a front bumper camera. There is no amount of computing power to make FSD fully work. All cars need to get rid of the human driver and have HW? in them. Today the car wanted to merge into the freeway with a speeding car behind me. In intervene quickly.
Tesla’s service and accommodations for existing customers leaves allot to be asked for. I don’t know how smooth / easy will a hardware update be in real terms as dealing with the Tesla service coordinators and their sales people is becoming a tight nightmare, except when you’re talking about buying a new car then it’s all rosy and cushy 😂
I had an issue in the UK, 2023 model 3. I was using cruise control only, I was passing a truck in very wet weather. The car braked violently as I was part way past the truck, completely blind from the rain/spray. If a vehicle was behind me, it’s likely there would be an accident. I’ve not used cruise since.
Too bad Elon got rid of radar over his engineers'objections…
did i read yesterday that Musk on the Q3 CC admitted that HW3 will not achieve FSD. as i believe i read he stated they are trying hard but will likely have to upgrade and retrofit not to HW4 but something like HW3.5…let the lawsuits fly, this is what i've been posting for a while, when after so many FSD deaths (snow then red steering with take over immediately then dead (no FSD)) i realized it wasn't going to happen….but the camera system (placement, lenses, etc.) are the key fail and i doubt any retrofit will include say radar, or repositioning of sensors, or..
Anybody who has been working on self driving software system know cameras alone aren't enough. Elon just wants to experiment with people's lives.
So many paid trolls in the comments spewing false information
The required fix from the nhtsa should be to hold the drivers accountable that were not paying attention
With potential software limitations and laws coming into place in the (somewhat ) near future, do you think Tesla will consider combining lidar and vision based fsd? It feels illogical to rely exclusively on vision. I understand that humans do, but with the criteria for fsd being that it is equal to or better than a human, wouldn't it make sense to combine all possible forms of data collection/ analysis? I would like to hear your thoughts!
