  1. Actually having a horn where the airbag is, is more of a safety concern. You don't want your hand over the airbag if it is deployed. It's better to keep your hands on either side, even though for some it means retraining your brain.

  2. I have a question, can't you just, because i heard ones, cover up the whole right side with your hand to honk so for me that sounds like they should just indecate that on the yoke so more people know they don't need to use one finger to honk they can use the same motion that they always did just on the right side of the yoke.

  3. either ben rented a broken yoke, my yoke has all the haptic feedback when the "button" touch surface is pressed, and seems like they were making video about the yoke right after they rented and driven the X, without "getting use to" it. Been using my Yoke on S and i think its incredible after driving it for about 6 months, the signals are very convenient, wipes etc; just the horn is misplaced imo. I honestly prefer the yoke over my BMW M3 round steering wheel at this point, with all the buttons and stalks, those are clunky.

As for pricing, i think ben & jen got a fair point about tesla being overpriced vs quality built, especially for the Y. But at the X price point, no other electric car comes even close to the X driving experience apart from falcon wing doors are just pain to deal with in a long run. Only advice is, give the yoke a shot for about 6 months, you dont have to cross your arms at all!

  4. Hmm 50-60 % of the time you get door issues, this does not seem realistic, no way there wouldn't be legal recourse if that was the case. And on a personal note I never have a issue once borrowing one for a few days and it's owner have some issues every once in a while, by maybe 2 order of magniitude lower then that…

  5. Look for the Model X (Raven Update, 2019 and up) you will like it! Saving tons of money and improved quality including doors, active suspension, new more efficient front motor from Model3, longer range and many more… worth it.

  6. I haven’t driven a yoke and don’t like the idea of non-square wheels, but don’t understand how reviewers say a horn is such a safety issue. I’ve driven cars with broken horn buttons for years. Almost every time I’ve used the horn was to wave a a friend I’ve seen…

  7. Ben, I find you inaccurate in your comments. I have owned 2 Model X vehicles. We have the new 2022 Model X and love it. My who is non technical and really has adopted the new yoke steering wheel. I find you more to enjoy hearing your own thoughts and voice than an objective opinion. While the Model X is not perfect, I don’t see any other vehicles that are free of challenges. Don’t loose the truth and objectivity that made your show of valuable

  8. Have a MYLR 202 w/ 19inch rims, toddler and back seat is so bad with bumpy roads that makes him car sick, really bad suspension. How much better is the Model X suspension and would it be a fix for what I have now?

  9. A fee things:
Those doors might have needed a simple calibration (done from the screen)
    Not many 6-seat SUVs,
You didn’t address the noise levels, stereo system.
The performance, the base one has 670hp and them there is a Plaid option.
Supercharger network is still a huge plus

  10. Glad you guys are back to Tesla topics, your channel got boring after you stop driving a Tesla and stopped having Tesla in you priorities. Probably time to listen to you both back again

  11. Jennie echoes all my own opinions —not only about the falcon wing doors, but especially the yoke and its buttons. Tesla obsesses over "cool," "unique," "different" features, but unfortunately ignores the sage adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

  12. This was really a great video. I always like hearing your wife’s opinions and I think the two of you are spot on with your commentary about the X. Also , it seems to me that the yoke-only steering/shifting/horn requirement is another exercise in hubris for Tesla.

  13. Not worth it. The steering yoke and getting rid of the stalks? Why Tesla? There are so many more cheaper options for EV or hybrids now for under $60K with Hyundai, Kia. These cars give you more options like ventilated seats, heads up display. I have a 2020 model 3, 2021 model y, and 2020 Santa Fe. The Hyundai Santa Fe other than not being a hybrid or electric and not having automatic folding mirrors does everything else the teslas don’t have: sun roof, heads up display, cooling seats etc. I disagree: model x isn’t worth it with all these issues. My model y had so many issues with panel gaps and now our dash cams haven’t worked for months. Not having to pay gas is nice tho. But electricity bill going up. Gotta go solar. Tesla needs to Offer options: regular steering wheel, ventilated seats, heads up display!

  14. Other advantage of MY over MX. Just so many more MYs being made. More of Tesla’s attention and opportunity to improve on MYs whereas the MX is a niche product that seems to be an afterthought for Tesla.

  15. Can't say I disagree with Jenny in the least; Tesla often seems to focus on form over function and safety can often suffer as a result. Plus I also feel that Tesla in the case of the stalkless yoke, was more interested in saving money on parts, labor & restarting ramping up of volume production than customer experience and safety.
I personally don't want to an extortionate amount of money for a vehicle and then be obliged to spend weeks (or longer), just to learn where all of the functions are placed on the vehicle; to me this is a real safety issue as is the fact that the Model X yoke version (isn't) steer by wire. In an emergency you REALLY DON'T want to have to be looking (inside) the car at the steering wheel/yoke for accurate hand placement instead of being able to (automatically) feed the wheel through your hands; your focus should be (wholly) on what's happening (outside) of the vehicle.
I'm a little bit surprised that we've yet to see 3rd party aftermarket companies offering a round steering wheel (with) stalks for the latest version of the Model X.

  16. Nice video very interesting take
I will say i got super lucky i got a model Y in may 2021 price was right at 50,500 before the never ending price increases started

At 50k the model Y long range was a pretty good deal, now its like at 67k that would be a hell no for me

As far as the model X I don’t think any vehicle over 90k you are getting it for the value tbh and i agree with your wife on the yolk it should be an option and the captains chairs are superior imo too

  17. Where did you folks get the seat backers? I have a 3 yo son. I’ll be taking delivery of a 2022 Model X within the next few weeks and I definitely don’t want him kicking my seat. Thanks for the informative and honest video! You’ve earned a new subscriber!

  18. I agree with your wife on the haptic and tactile feedback. My wife is blind and my co-pilot. If she's uncomfortable wants to make adjustments to the radio or the air conditioning. It is absolutely atrocious that everything is touchscreen, This provides her no feedback and since they don't have a screen reader, no way for her to even accommodate it through modern means.

This is a vehicle that is supposed to have full self-driving at some indeterminate time in the future, that means people who cannot drive will be using it and you need to have accessibility options.

  19. Besides the price, the reason we are getting the Model Y vs X is that we wanted the extra roof storage for camping trips/road trips and because of the Model X doors, you don't have that option.

  20. Love the channel. Especially with the input of Jenny. We took delivery of a 2022 Model X in June, coming from a Model 3. Honestly, you really do get completely comfortable with the yoke and turn signals. It took a few weeks, and it was totally awkward at first, but now I don’t even think about it. Also, haven’t had any issues or problems with the doors. Really the only complaint is I wish the seats were more comfortable for long road trips. They’re fine for around town but at about two hours they start to get uncomfortable. And for a vehicle at this price, well it shouldn’t be an issue.
