  1. If Zerosum is correct and the current back order is 13,000 Megapacks, and Tesla is taking orders for Q424, then Tesla is planning on building 13,000 MP’s in seven quarters.

  2. My feeling is that Elon Musk has not yet reached the peak of his Genius engineering potential, and he will create other wonders that will stupefy us for a very long time. The american Government has been hampering Elon Musk progress in every way they can, up to a point that he had to flee California . It is the most stupid and irresponsible behaviors imaginable. We should kick this people out, and elect some true Americans that will work very hard for American Interests, and treasure and support people like Elon that right in front of our eyes is changing the planet in to a much better livable place, and in the process enhancing our quality of life.

  3. The dude is right Warren, I wouldn't doubt that Lathrop is already running at capacity.
OK, Megapacks are big and heavy, but Megapacks, have less suppliers, less employees, less job stations, less parts and less robotics to install, adjust, and maintain. All around megapacks are far less complicated to build, and the manufacturing process, as well as the factory itself, is far less complicated.

  4. Excellent conversation. Glad to see this energy narrative is getting traction. 2030 is less than 7 years away which means we have to see concrete results very soon.

  5. Maybe large transporters like Fed Ex could even save time on charging by swapping trucks. A truck at the end of its range could pull in to a station, drop the trailer, and grab a charged truck that's already waiting. Then the previous truck starts charging. They could probably have their own network. I'm sure they could work out the logistics! 😉

  6. I’m a bull, but an accountant an mba. For free is stand up comedy. The sales will not happen nearly as fast needing to add megapacks. Which is why Elon will sell them closer to diesel

  7. Engineer here. Great interview guys but please use the correct term for energy storage: “kilowatt-hours”. Not “kilowatts”. You said, Randy, that words matter. This matters. You don’t refer to speed as “miles”, rather “miles-per-hour”.

  8. Why would you assume that when the cost of goods decreases, the sales price will stay the same 7 years from now. Everything related to technology including batteries, solar panels, EVs, semiconductor chips, software, inverters, etc decreases in price over time – Moore’s Law, Wright’s Law.

  9. One Robotaxi does the work of about 5 cars. One Semi EV does the work or replaces the pollution of of 20 cars, therefore the Semi is more mission critical for the environment and sustainability than the Robotaxi, although the one Robotaxi is much more profitable than the one Semi over a 5, 10, or 15 year period.

  10. It’s unlikely that a shipping company will get involved in the energy arbitrage business. They are not utility companies. The lack the knowledge, expertise, and probably the desire to enter the utility industry.

It would be better for Tesla to own the Megachargers and Megapacks that are installed at Pepsi, Walmart, and any of their other Semi customer’s shipping routes. Tesla has the expertise to use the Megapacks to their maximum efficiency by selling the electricity to their Semi customers while at the same time using the Megapacks and Autobidder for energy arbitrage. Tesla would also be more incentivize to install solar or wind for the Megapacks to reduce cost and increase recurring profits.

Most of the smaller cost conscious shipping companies don’t have the money to buy Megapacks and would prefer to buy the electric from a Tesla owned MegaCharger/Megapack installation along their shipping routes destination points.

  11. Warren, I couldn't help but notice the vehicle in the background picture during your recent discussion with Randy Kirk. Could you expound on what it is? What an interesting design.

Do you buy food .,yes you say well like all the goods that are to be moved from "A" to "B" must have the costs come from the costs of doning business . ., There is no advantage in maxing out the cost of shipping. Inflation as we know it comes not from magic words … But from the cost of the truck and the cost of the maintenance diesel gas oil all of it. When reduced because of efficiencies the cost of all things provided and
must be reduced or should be…
