  2. As a long time supporter of your channel and patron, I am again complaining about your injection of politics into the show. It does not benefit your show to be trying to root for that villain Trump and his minions. And it’s not all about Biden’s failures to recognize Tesla. There’s a whole lot more at stake. Have you not heard of the far rights ambitious Project 2025 that will, if empowered, transform our country into a theocracy favoring white Christian nationalists? Just look it up. We will become a fulfillment of the Handmaid’s Tale prophecy. Seriously. Again I repeat – Biden is imperfect, and old, but Trump is not far behind in age and Biden at his worst is many times better than Trump, who is a bigot, narcissist, pathological liar and thug. I will continue to complain each week until you STOP THIS DAMN POLITICAL stumping for a convicted felon for president. Musk is wrong, wrong WRONG in this area despite his great contributions to humanity. Stop following him blindly as though he’s perfect or nearly so. Okay??? You KNOW you don’t need to include Musk’s political views – that’s NOT WHAT YOUR SHOW IS ABOUT!!! NOR SHOULD BE!

P.S. That comment on X by Musk that even Stephen King is voting for Trump is absurd. And I heard Jesse rather under his breath state – “That’s a joke” but it was so quiet as to be missed if you weren’t listening close. Why do you do this? Are you now afraid so many of your supporters are pro-trump that you cater to this insanity?

PPS – EV’s and sustainable energy does not need to be political, even as you state at the very end of the show. When visiting with family and friends, try avoiding politically heated discussions/debates and talk about EV’s! Please practice what you’re preaching here!!!!!!

  3. I'm in Alabama as well and the Alabama power rate is a little over .126kwh here but you can get a plan that allows you to get .07kwh except for three peak hours a day. On those peak hours (which are different in the winter vs summer) you pay $1.00kwh. The cheat code here is to install a power wall (or whatever battery storage you prefer) to run your house during those peak hours. You can cut your power bill by about 40% without even adding solar.

  4. 52:00 We called our Utility Duke Energy immediately when we got the R1T and Ioniq 6 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. They have a pilot program for Tesla and Ford but for no other vehicles. Also, they only pay $.04 a kw for solar so we have not gotten solar panels yet and North Carolina does not allow the Tesla virtual power network.

  5. I went to your "Clips" channel after that great story on ICE car fires vs EV vs hybrid… and it wasn't there! That would be perfect one!
The EIA/IEA/E-I-E-I-Wrong! story would have been a great one too!

  6. 44:00 can't wait until those convenience features are available. I can't wait for "valet mode." Just let the car drop you off and go find parking nearby. Nearer term, there should be parking features for people's homes. Like park exactly where you want the car on your driveway or in your garage, and it will save it using a combo of GPS and distance from surrounding landmarks (yet another reason why radar is helpful). I have a really long but narrow driveway. I'd love it if there was a "swap" feature where, if I'm arriving, I can summon the Tesla down the driveway, so I can park behind it… or if I'm leaving, I can have it move out of the way, then repark itself in the driveway once I pull out.
Until governments sanction rolling stops (which places like CA should, at least when there are no other cars or people in/near the intersection, as it saves energy/fuel) it will have to be a manual override with the accelerator. Not a big deal… but it would be sweet if Teslas could use all their cameras to identify nearby cops and come to obnoxiously complete stops when a cop is detected… and roll through otherwise.

  7. Tesla needs to get close enough to superchargers for the autopark feature to work. There are a lot of places where the supercharger locations seems to be where the office address is. Having to look for the charges after the cars navigation system gives up is not close enough.

  8. In West Central Wisconsin, if you're in the St Croix Valley Electric Cooperative, you can get off-peak charging for 5 cents/kWh and other times at 8 cents/kWh. You have to buy their charger for ~$300 because they will control availability. So for example, in the summer my charger is turned off between around noon until 9:00 PM so you can't charge at all during that time. Off peak is 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Pretty much a no-brainer if you have an electric car. The 16,000 miles driven my Model X on home charging have cost me a total of about $320. At normal rates it would have been $800. If I had my friends Toyota Highlander Hybrid I would have spent around $1,800 on gas for the same distance.

The down side is it's really a shock when I have to pay SuperCharger prices on the road.

  9. Permeable parking surface… well beyond time that we did this in North America. Some (all?) European countries charge landowners a storm water drainage/disposal fee based on the size of the lot…non-permeable % of the lot is charged a higher tax to cover the cost of stormwater infrastructure…basically a “user pay” calculation that incentivizes permeable parking lots…

  10. The political commentary in your podcasts is becoming pathetically biased and you are promoting a misleading narrative by not showing some balance. If all we hear are the faults of Biden and the Democrats, then Trump and the Republicans start to look like competent geniuses. But we know that is not true. And when you are supposedly in favour of a strong EV industry, it's puzzling the way you carry on. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

  11. Now You Know The words you are looking for are "porous parking lot". There are many different types. Exsample look for "Green Permeable Plastic Grass Pavers for Parking Lots, Driveways (4 Pieces/11 sq.ft.)"

  12. Hi greetings from Swiss Alps! We live up in a mountain valley and drive around with electric starting in the company in 2008. As I am a little older with 73 I kept my hybrid until 2021. Now privately we drive a Kia EV6 AWD and a Fiat 500e Ka Prima both the cheapest luxury cars we ever had, we mostly home and destination charge and have participations in water and PV.
