Monorail pink and purple crash aftermath. This video shows how people will come together to help each other in a time of need. Something we need to see more of everyday. One of the monorail pilots, Austin Wuennenberg, was killed, others were taken to the hospital for a checkup, but no real injuries. This should have never happened. Our hearts go out to his family and friends. Only 6 guests were on one monorail that Austin was piloting, they were not hurt. The other monorail only had the pilot.
Something else that needs to be said, Once Austin saw what the other monorail pilot was doing, Austin did everything he could in the little time he had to move the monorail out of harm’s way to protect the guests. It was the perfect storm of Disney mistakes that evening. This accident, plus others, show that Disney no longer has the guests’ best interests at heart. As all other theme parks, Disney needs the government to keep a close eye on safety measures.

WKMG Channel 6 has done a great job telling the story of what happened. The monorail system went back online Monday 07-06-2009 that afternoon.
Just a note. I was not videoing. If I was there, I would be helping anyone in danger like the other guests were trying to do. I am not sure why the cast members were not helping, but that is something they will have to live with.
