  1. The 6 outer planets have been protecting Earth for millions of years from foreign objects. Especially Jupiter and Saturn.
When we can't even stop wars and invading culture on earth, talking about terraforming is Joke.

  4. Terraforming Mars is impossible and stupid because it doesn't have a magnetosphere. You're looking at underground bio domes cause you can't live on the planet's surface with the radiation from the sun. So he's basically right. Deflecting an astroid will be a lot easier. And we're never getting to another solar system in anyone's life time.

  5. If humans were a "multi planet species" our politicians would start a war between the planets leading to one almost or complete destruction sending is back to the stone age, while the survivong planets repopulated or restarted civilization on the destroyed planet….

  6. Aaaaaand just solving our planet s pollution would cost less than just escaping to another hostile and shitty planet. Sorry to disappoint the si fi musk's geekish fans but this is the worst idea. Plus, demography will be in a drastic decline soon so we won t have to worry about being too many.

  7. I used to like Neil, now I realize he really just likes the sound of his own voice.

Also, he's assuming we have a good system of detecting asteroids and comets. We don't. Not to mention other life-ending events like natural disasters, this is a concern. Being multiplanetary is a good thing, regardless of effort.

Neil is wrong and hurting humanity with his arrogance.

  8. If Earth and the universe is supposedly as old as science claims it is, why hasn't this already happened? Theoretically, if space and things existed the way science claims it does and it's truly that chaotic, then Earth would have already been annihilated millions or billions of years ago. It's probably because we're "center of the universe" or at least the most important thing in it. That would mean the universe as we know was created by intellectual design and shows proof of a creator.

  9. Ok Neil, smartazz, how do u protect humans from a super volcano erupting? Let’s just be forever confined to earth and never expand our horizon like trying to colonize another planet. I swear he’s ok smart for his own good.

  10. Deflection of the asteroid and colonization of Mars …. being able to deflect asteroids is a must, the question is can skill be useful throughout the whole journey of living. Are those skills universal . One thing is certain, it's a long game! A lifetime game.
