The 6 outer planets have been protecting Earth for millions of years from foreign objects. Especially Jupiter and Saturn. When we can't even stop wars and invading culture on earth, talking about terraforming is Joke.
ππππππStop dreaming…All humanity will die here…No way will do a better job elsewhere…. we are the viruses of thd whole universe….We are really uniqueππππ
Yeah let's go destroy another planet. Classic. This is the only place in the entire universe that we were made for, that we can walk around without any protection. And we're just going to destroy it. Fuck humans.
Terraforming Mars is impossible and stupid because it doesn't have a magnetosphere. You're looking at underground bio domes cause you can't live on the planet's surface with the radiation from the sun. So he's basically right. Deflecting an astroid will be a lot easier. And we're never getting to another solar system in anyone's life time.
If humans were a "multi planet species" our politicians would start a war between the planets leading to one almost or complete destruction sending is back to the stone age, while the survivong planets repopulated or restarted civilization on the destroyed planet….
Aaaaaand just solving our planet s pollution would cost less than just escaping to another hostile and shitty planet. Sorry to disappoint the si fi musk's geekish fans but this is the worst idea. Plus, demography will be in a drastic decline soon so we won t have to worry about being too many.
I used to like Neil, now I realize he really just likes the sound of his own voice.
Also, he's assuming we have a good system of detecting asteroids and comets. We don't. Not to mention other life-ending events like natural disasters, this is a concern. Being multiplanetary is a good thing, regardless of effort.
Neil is wrong and hurting humanity with his arrogance.
If we truly want our species to survive we absolutely have to colonise other worlds. Earth can't cope with our growing popuoation and constant exploitation of its resources Do or die. One or the other
If Earth and the universe is supposedly as old as science claims it is, why hasn't this already happened? Theoretically, if space and things existed the way science claims it does and it's truly that chaotic, then Earth would have already been annihilated millions or billions of years ago. It's probably because we're "center of the universe" or at least the most important thing in it. That would mean the universe as we know was created by intellectual design and shows proof of a creator.
Ok Neil, smartazz, how do u protect humans from a super volcano erupting? Letβs just be forever confined to earth and never expand our horizon like trying to colonize another planet. I swear heβs ok smart for his own good.
O is it. And curing and incurable plague? Nuclear war? Theres a ton of ways humanity can go out. If another planet was self sustained you have 2 chances. Thats probably the great filter.
Deflection of the asteroid and colonization of Mars …. being able to deflect asteroids is a must, the question is can skill be useful throughout the whole journey of living. Are those skills universal . One thing is certain, it's a long game! A lifetime game.
The stars are our birth right!
than we,ll have mara vs earth
I'm guessing… when NDT "guesses" he's not wrong
That's fuckin Bill Nye!? Holy shit
Lets not take him serious anymore.
Why is Bill Nye up there?
Tracking an asteroid and slightly nudging it to alter its path is far easier than changing an entire planetβs biome
Neil.. you're a hack
The 6 outer planets have been protecting Earth for millions of years from foreign objects. Especially Jupiter and Saturn.

When you colonize you don't move a billion people there you move a group of people I thought you were smart π€
What happens if there's an asteroid that comes at us close to light speed? We'd have no time to respond even with the ability to deflect it.
Neil is a little dog with a big bark
I'M GUESSING… i could be wrong, but the rich people would leave Earth first and later regret it when they realize they where the issue.
ππππππStop dreaming…All humanity will die here…No way will do a better job elsewhere…. we are the viruses of thd whole universe….We are really uniqueππππ
Neil is an intellectual beast love that dude. His publications are amazing enlightening reads
Yeah let's go destroy another planet. Classic. This is the only place in the entire universe that we were made for, that we can walk around without any protection. And we're just going to destroy it. Fuck humans.
And?
If the planet is destroyed what does it matter if there are no more humans ?
What is so necessary about human life ?
Because Earth is not a planet.. we wont be able to naturally just live on mars because mars is a planet
Astroids aren't the only possible extinction events
Is that bill nie the science guy
Never bad to have multiple hedges
A Theologist in the panel would answer: "It's even much easier to just PRAY TO GOD to not send the asteroid within Earth's path." ππ
Scientist's arrogance!! We can't even Terra form earth!!! And you think we can Terra form Mars??? LMFAOπ They cry over climate change now!!! LMFAO

When I was born I wanted to be the first person on Mars. I know that won't happen now but I would at least like to be buried there or something
Canβt we do both?
What is this debate from can someone send the link
When he says "whatever it takes", it sounds horrible. He is support the nuke explosion π₯ on the Mars.
Aaaaaand just solving our planet s pollution would cost less than just escaping to another hostile and shitty planet. Sorry to disappoint the si fi musk's geekish fans but this is the worst idea. Plus, demography will be in a drastic decline soon so we won t have to worry about being too many.
There are no aliens. We are the ones who will be invading them if they exist. We are the colonizers
Going to the moon wasn't easy.
We are not even capable of preventing human caused catastrophes here on Earth so no worries, we are doomed either ways
None of this is happening
Trust me human will never even land in mars.. Ever..
I mean we have the dart mission and it successfully diverted an asteroid, so technically we dont need to go to mars anymore haha
So the only reason to be a multi planet species is to avoid asteroids? Yeah… No…
You think as a scientist he would know there's more dangers than just an asteroid but alright.
I used to like Neil, now I realize he really just likes the sound of his own voice.

Sounds like Fear tactics

for those who want to protect our species , they should be thinking how to protect our species from destroying it self ,
people is killing each other

Hi alon musk
O is it. And curing and incurable plague? Nuclear war? Theres a ton of ways humanity can go out. If another planet was self sustained you have 2 chances. Thats probably the great filter.
So neil is the great filter.
