An intriguing turn-based colony-building – well, colonies really… plural – strategy game where you get to explore and exploit the rich resources on Mars to fuel your base’s expansion just so you can accommodate more people. It’s all about a balance between resources used and your colonists’ contentment. Better tech is unlocked the more you terraform the planet, whether by adding atmosphere, oxygen, heat or ocean to the planet, or when you hit certain milestones as well.
There are plenty of leaders to choose from too, with each election offering you one of two to choose from. Naturally, each leader brings something different to the table and even when the next election cycle comes around – these leaders are only one-term leaders – their unique passive perk, though not their active abilities, will persist throughout your run.
All of these combine, along with other features, to make the game quite strategic in nature… and in my case, very entertaining to play. Have always been an avid fan of city builders and turn-based strategy titles and this combo, especially when it’s so well executed, just works great for me.
Replayability is ok here too since there are some RNG in play and each run may offer different enough challenges to “feel different” and not simply a “rerun” of the same playthrough.
