I don't blame anybody for buying legacy over startup. Besides Tesla, which isn't a startup anymore. If you're rich and/or are a techlord who always is willing to risk to get the newest and flashiest, sure go ahead. But otherwise, putting your money into a completely new company with something as expensive and complicated as a car?
I couldn't trust that a company's very first product would be as thoroughly engineered as one from somebody who's been making cars for up to a century, nevermind dealer network, maintenance or the HUGE risk that the startup goes under and not only maintenance, resale value, spares etc would be difficult.
There are huge drawbacks to legacy auto of course, but purely from a consumer's perspective I see very little reason to go for startup over legacy when it comes to such a large purchase.
Great update. 14:42 Isn't is also ok if automakers preserve regen at full charge by having "extra battery" at the top, so that there is still room for regen?

they siphoned hundreds of millions of investor dollars for last !!! 15 !!! years, promising fast charging with "their technology" – but there were NO such tech from them until year 2022.
want to know why?
because now they simply got a battery from REGULAR CHINESE PHONE such as OnePlus 10R , Infinix Note 12 VIP , Xiaomi Black Shark 5 Pro , etc
– ALL new models of that phones can do 0 – 50% charge in 5 minutes! and full charge from 0 to 100 in just 17 minutes!!
so these "innovators" from storedot just printed their brand name on such Chinese cells and then went to big car guys telling that this is their tech…
i really shocked to see how people are blind and naive.

EV’s ought to have full true non-friction regenerative braking even when fully charged. A possible way to do this would be to include a supercapacitor bank capable of storing the energy from a rapidly moving car. Supercapacitors can be charged much faster than batteries.

Possibly, the safer driving of EVs is due to trying to preserve range. I'd be curious to see if this holds up as battery capacity & DCFC availability increases.
